Finished watching Schittâs Creek a couple of weeks ago and I desperately need more of it in my life.
Enjoy some fanart of Alexis throwing an encore performance to Davidâs utter disgust
I think one thing i havenât seen people talk about is this scene, and how Korra is bending the metal. She isnât Metalbending like an Earthbender would. She is doing it like a Waterbender. This may seem a bit obvious but like, itâs just amazing how she is taking things she earned as a Waterbender from Katara and using it in a way that gives her an advantage over Kuvira. Kuvira just moves it like an Earthbender would. She keeps her defense up and keeps a steady stance. Korra is changing the metals form and changing it from defensive to offensive. Thatâs what waterbendingâs all about, pushing and pull, not forcing it, but guiding it. She is just amazing.
Donât judge her, she probably couldnât afford adoption papers
I work at a humane society shelter, and this does happen occasionally. usually cats wonât âstealâ the kittens, theyâll hear them crying and stick around and if a momma doesnât come around theyâll take them somewhere safe and try to care for them
we recently had a very confused lady who called that her cat was trying to take care of an astounding 8 kittens and brought them in
the kittens were obviously malnourished, and we looked around her neighborhood and sadly found the dead mama, she got hit by a car
itâs a really useful thing that cats will do
sometimes the mom will just have gotten lost and will come back to try and find her kittens and so that can be frustrating, but considering how rough it is for stray kittens, itâs a lot better for them to be in a household and cared for where the parent cat can get guareenteed food and shelter
I canât tell you how many abandoned kittens we find that canât make it
it sucks a lot
anyway tangent done
I just đđ I love cats a lot
Your cat isnât a kidnapper sheâs an ADOPTIVE MOTHER donât be rude
âŚ..Cats are Mandalorians.
Wolves React To Gamekeeper Who Had Been Away On Maternity Leave
âWHEREâS YOUR PUPPY! WE WANNA SEE YOUR PUPPY! DID YOU JUST HAVE THE ONE? DO YOU HAVE THEM WITH YOU? ARE THERE PHOTOS?â
Iâm not a hundred percent positive but Iâm pretty sure this is the wild life center where I visited wolves.
And the safety briefing included the question âSo if youâre pregnant, do you want to know or not?â
Turns out there had been a bit of an awkward situation once where the keepers had casually mentioned a womanâs pregnancy in a group, and she herself didnât even know yet. Turns out the wolves are excellent at telling if youâre pregnant and the keepers can tell based on their body language. They get all odd and careful around pregnancy. (Even wolves knows that you have to take care of pregnant people.)
So they definitely knew she was pregnant.
And if I remember my BBC documentaries right, a wolf will leave the pack to give birth and introduce the cubs to the pack once she feels ready for it. And maternity leave is flexible but often around 6 months so theyâre going âYOU WERE GONE FOREVER! WE WERE SO WORRIED! WHERE ARE THE CUBS?? WE HAVE TO GREET THE CUBS!!âÂ
Also the two on her back are fighting over who gets to greet her first. Giving and receiving attention is a commodity that goes by hierarchy and if you donât accept that there will be scuffles.. The wolf lying down next to her isnât chill about her coming back, itâs just submissive to the other wolves and waiting for itâs turn to show excitement.
Now I can see why we domesticated these adorable jerks.
Wolf packs have maternity leave?

I'm in disbelief
It feels a bit gross that a bunch of news sites are already posting articles about Naya Rivera being dead when the body that authorities recovered hasn't officially been identified yet.
It feels a bit disrespectful, like this weird race to be the first to break the news and drive traffic to their site instead of like... yknow... respectfully waiting for confirmation.
Like yeah, there are strong chances that the body is hers but like... canât we all just wait until the conference at 2pm? Please?
yâall i feel ill
Josey was found 3 hours after they rented the boat, alone, asleep and wearing a life jacket, and he told the police that Naya jumped into the water and never resurfaced, and it's sickening that people are making jokes about it now when a four year old might have lost his mother and that will be something that will haunt him for the rest of his life!!!! Do not make light of this situation!!!! You don't have to like her, just don't say anything then, if I see one more post being like, "I don't like Naya Rivera and she is a bad person who did this and that, BUT..." JUST SHUT UP!! I hope that she is found.
this is incredibly heartbreaking, I donât even know what to say really. letâs just hope that she gets found and sheâs okay. and, as of now, that they donât suspend the search

if any of u have ever read any of my fics i love u
i just remembered the fire nation post-conquest was canonically homophobic
which meansâassuming he got rid of it along with other oppressive laws when he became fire lordâ
Zuko literally said gay rights
Which was honestly incredibly cheap and lazy to just tack that onto Sozin. Especially since homophobia ended up playing literally no role throughout the entire Turf Wars comic. Everyone and their grandmother tells Korra and Asami that theyâll be facing homophobic backlash, but they never actually do. Just a waste of wordcount and comic panels.
Apparently the imperialism, colonialism, and genocide werenât enough proof that something rotten was at the heart of the Fire Nation. They had to toss in homophobia to make sure we got the point. Because thatâs what queer kids need: to be reminded that some places and people wonât accept them.
Pretty fucking much. The absolute last thing I want or need in my escapist fantasy is the exact same bullshit problems I already have to deal with in real life.
The escapist fantasy that explicitly deals with the horrors of war, imperialism, and colonialism? That deals with systemic sexism, child abuse, and trauma? Genocide? That escapist fantasy?Â
Itâs not even like the Fire Nation specifically being homophobic during its imperialism is a plot point Unlike, say, the sexism in the Norther Water Tribe, which IS a major plot point. Because thatâs what girls need: to be reminded that there will always be people who want to undermine their skills? I guess?) Itâs just some world building.Â
Yes, that escapist fantasy, where the Chosen One goes on an epic adventure to save the world, while having a bunch of whacky sidequests along the way. Where people can throw a punch and shoot fire out of their fists and cities are ruled by crazy old muscle grandpas. Where fucking fun happens even when the world is in peril.
The fact that itâs not a plotpoint makes it even worse. Thereâs this thing called The Law of Conservation of Detail. If you give a detail, it better be important to the story. Doubly important for a comic where you have a very limited amount of space to work with. Spending pages on warning the characters about the homophobic backlash theyâll be facing and then never following through with it is not world building. Itâs is a waste of space that couldâve been better used to develope the actual conflict of the comic.
The sexism of the Northern Watertribe came with a cool fight scene where Katara could show off how far she had come as a Waterbender, while also fleshing out the plot-relevant place they were currently at, in extension to what we had already seen from the Watertribe through Sokkaâs sexism. And it ultimately served to prove Pakku and his sexist believes wrong, just like how the Kyoshi Warriors had for Sokka. The supposed homophobia in Turf Wars had none of that.
Korra DOES face pushback from her parents about coming out. It felt like it was relatable and well done. (It reminded me a lot of how coming out to my parents went in fact.) The same page this one panel is from also deals with how homophobia presents differently in the water tribe and the other nations, which ties into her parents reaction.
Atla/Korra is a show that has never shied away from heavy topics. The fact that so much of the first comic is about Korra and Asamis relationship, it makes sense that we at least establish what the general state of lgbt acceptance IS in the universe. It would honestly feel cheap, at least to me, to not acknowledge it at all.
When she tells her parents that sheâs dating Asami her fatherâs reaction is literally: âThatâs not what I expected to hear, but I couldnât be more pleased.â Both of them are nothing but happy and supportive of their relationship. And then they do the same song and dance as literally everybody else and warn them about the fact that homophobes exist and Korra acts like a little brat and throws a tantrum as if they had somehow done something wrong by telling her. Thatâs not what Iâd call âpushbackâ. If thatâs how your parentâs reacted to you coming out, then youâre genuinely luckier than 99% of LGBT people out there.
Not acknowledging it wouldâve send its own message. When no one has any particular reaction to a same-sex couple dating, it establishes that same-sex relationships are uncontroversial in that place. Which is also another mistake in how Turf Wars handles the whole thing, because it Tells rather than Shows.
They tell her not to come out to anyone else, that her relationship should be kept private.
Which, yeah, isnt like DISOWNING her or assaulting her, but as someone who went through a pretty similar thing, it still hurts. They describe her desire to come out as âgetting ahead of herselfâ and being âover excited.â Which is very dismissive and patronizing.
My parents made it clear that my younger brothers and sister shouldnât be told, the rest of the family shouldnât find out, that I should âbe careful at schoolâ and then proceeded to basically ignore the fact that I was bi as much as possible. Which isâŚa bad feeling, and in a lot of ways damaged my relationship with them for a long time. No, it wasnt as bad as it could have been, but it is a reaction that people experience. It isnât less valid or less realistic just because it wasnât as bad as it could have been.
Parents who arent assholes but also want you to stay in the closet are a thing that we deal with. It impacts your relationship with them. This all felt very true to life for me. It wasnt the main conflict of the story, but seeing how different people reacted to Korra and Asami dating felt like it did need to be established. Kya shares some lgbt history with them, Mako is awkward because heâs always awkward about his exes, Korraâs parents are overly protective in a way that makes them not want her to come out.
And maybe this is just me, just the Avatar world has always built on real world cultures. We know that imperialist and authoritarian governments are strongly linked to homophobic laws and customs. We know that communities with strong traditions can be less open to lgbt folk, even if it isnât in the law itself. To look at a show that says YES sexism exists and can be overcome, YES genocide happens and we can survive, YES trauma occurs but we can heal, and then to just be like âwhat? Homophobia? Thats not a thingâ would have rang hollow to me.
Maybe Iâm reading this wrong, but it feels like you wish they had either not mentioned it at all, or made the homophobia more central to the plot of the comic. But you also really dont want that because while genocide can exist in your escapist media, you donât want homophobia to even be acknowledged. Which, you do you. We all react to shit in our own ways.
My point is that it isnât cheap or lazy writing. Maybe its a narrative choice you didnât enjoy, but establishing lgbt attitudes in the universe was well over due, and it is absolutely consistent with real world imperialism to have an imperialist power codify anti-lgbt laws while in power, and making those connections is in line with the showâs approach to those issues.
It feels like an example of people being hyper-critical of lgbt media, where the more you do, the more flack you get. And you can have your personal feelings about it, sure. But also, like⌠its objectively not bad writing for a show that deals with these kinds of topics to deal with homophobia too, even briefly. It doesnât conflict with the show being âescapist fantasy. â
It sucks to be told that you have to keep yourself in the closet, but you also have to face the reality of the situation. We never actually see what the precise attitude towards LGBT people is in the Avatar world at that time, but considering that Sozin sets the bar at criminalizing homosexuality, it could be anything upwards from Korra getting arrested for dating a woman. Even in a mild case scenario, itâs entirely understandable that Korraâs parents are concerned about their daughter painting yet another target on her back.
Not to mention how often Korra got herself in trouble or almost died due to getting ahead of herself and not thinking things through. The only reason she didnât die halfway through Volume 1 was because Amon decided to let her live.
And yes, if they had to bring homophobia up as a topic, then I wouldâve prefered if they had made it central to the comic and actually done something with it. To compare it to the whole sexism thing in ATLA: Imagine if in the show Katara had been told by everyone that the Northern Watertribe is sexist and doesnât allow girls to learn combat waterbending, but then Pakku agrees to teach her immediately without complaint and no one so much as raises an eyebrow at a girl learning how to fight. That wouldâve made the entire spiel about sexism unsatisfying and pointless.
ATLA was good with heavy topics because it did something meaningful with them. The comic didnât. It build up the idea of Korra and Asami dealing homophobia as important and then didnât follow up with it when the time came. From a writing perspective it was lazy and sloppy. Telling rather than Showing, and spending a lot of time on details and exposition that ultimately didnât matter. That is Bad Writing 101.
So your position is that having homophobia mentioned breaks the escapism, but also that the homophobia wasnât violent enough? And that Korraâs parents mild homophobia is justified but also there isnât enough systematic homophobia against Korra to make it narratively satisfying.
I think we will just have to agree to disagree on that. Youâre allowed your opinion, but I still maintain that including the existence of homophobia doesnât ruin the escapism of the show.
Really wish we could go back to a time when movies were worth something as long as they were fun to watch
Like I mentioned the 2016 Ghostbusters reboot (the all-female one) to someone bc i had a lot of fun watching that movie!! And they were like âthat movie wasnât that good it was just a comedy⌠It didnât win anything did it?â like bitch âŚ. The first Ghostbusters movie wasnât fucking good either but Iâm still sitting here watching some dudes chase a ghost through a library to some weird synth music so maybe movies donât have to win awards to be worth watching
Not done.
When I ask people about their fave movies I always ask for two:
1) Which movie do you just fuckin. Watch over and over again (mine is Groundhog Day)?
2) Which movie do you recommend to other people/to me specifically?
Like. These are two VERY different questions. I know my bff from high school is obsessed with the star wars prequels like SHE KNOWS THEY AINT GOOD. I asked my roommate the first question and they were like âfuck dude I just love Mrs doubtfire.â Like yeah youâre not gonna be telling every person you meet to watch Mrs doubtfire! But itâs okay if itâs a movie you like some movies are FUN
Thereâs an Ebert review, I believe, of the Brendan Frasier Mummy film. It basically goes, âk, thereâs only one nice thing I can say about this movie, and thatâs ⌠I enjoyed pretty much every minute of it.â
Like. Was it a cinematic masterpiece? No. Do you want to pop some popcorn and put it on while you hang out with your D&D group or whatever? Hell, yeah. Itâs fun.
âThere is hardly a thing I can say in its favor, except that I was cheered by nearly every minute of it. I cannot argue for the script, the direction, the acting or even the mummy, but I can say that I was not bored and sometimes I was unreasonably pleased.â
-Roger Ebert
Headcanon that Ellie and Aster reconnect when they come home for spring break. Ellie tried getting a hipster haircut and Aster won't stop bringing it up.â
My dog scratched me while trying to slap me awake this morning for her walk.
Do I now fit the criteria for mid to late 2000's Assassin's Creed protagonist or what

Why One Detail of Disneyâs Robin Hood Bothers Me And Always Will
Hi, welcome to my Ted Talk, today we will be dealing with something that has bothered me about Disneyâs Robin Hood since I was a kid and I still cannot get over to this very day.
And it all stems from THESE THREE PEOPLE:
Maid Marian, Prince John, and King Richard
Iâm going to preface this entire thing by saying THIS version of Robin Hood is very very VERY different than the source material, much like all Disney animated films, but it wasnât really DISNEY who did the big changes⌠those just came over time with making things more⌠Iâm just going to say ânormal for societyâ, which is ultra double lame.
BUT thatâs not the point, because that stuff happens everywhere and with everything, and if I started to complain about THAT weâd be here all day, and Iâm already going to take more of your time than needed to complain about something SUPER unimportant from a childrenâs animated movie made in 1973.
ANYWAY!
So, in the movie the titular character, Robin Hood, is a fox. Makes total sense, foxes are crafty, hard to catch, cunning, and known for getting into and out of situations that other animals would have difficulty with. Take that and turn it into an anthropomorphic character and youâd get someone who would easily be against the normal laws, not BAD, but would do BAD to do GOOD. Robin is a show off when he wants to be, and quiet when he has to be.
Heâs a pretty perfect Robin Hood, especially in the case of animated kids movies, his characteristics just work SO WELL with his personification as a fox. GOOD STUFF, if I do say so myself!
Little John, meanwhile, is a bear. Not just any bear, but a big olâ lovable brown bear. This plays on the idea of Little John being a cheeky nickname because Little John is a big, strong, and above all the calm, cool, and rationally smart one of the two. Robin may be clever, but John is the big picture guy. Pun intended.
These two designs and animal choices work SO well with each other, and itâs because these two are so different yet they get along and honestly NEED one another that makes the differences so perfect.
ALAN-A-DALE IS A ROOSTER. BRILLIANT. I donât even have to go into this, do I? What a GREAT call by making Alan-A-Dale a rooster. Though, I feel a bit of his characteristics were also borrowed from Will Scarlet for the Disney version, but even that still fits everything. And, honestly, I donât mind the blending of Alan and Will, it kinda works? Especially with the movie being as short as it is.
ROOSTER BARD. ROOSTER. BARD. So good, I mean câmon. Itâs perfection.
The Sheriff of Nottingham being a wolf is⌠okay. Itâs okay. I get it though, having the wolf hunt the fox. Haha. Cheeky. Cliche, but cheeky.
I really have nothing to say about him, heâs justâŚokay. Dudeâs a cop, so whatever. Not a fan of bootlickers, and the fact that theyâre dragging wolves in the mud by making a wolf into a cop is⌠whatever. /Heâs A Wolf Cop/
Personally, I donât like Friar Tuck as a badger. It really doesnât make sense to me, and I lowkey hate it that they totally missed so many opportunities. DOVE OF PEACE? LAMB OF GOD? Like FOR REAL, you coulda done something super cute like that, but NOoOoOoOoOoO⌠heâs a badger. And they kinda pick on him for half the movie, for no reason, and I donât like that.
Still, Friar Tuck is cute, and a really fun character and they do some clever animation stuff with his âbadgerâ-ness. Still a bit of a missed opportunity.
OKAY NOW THAT WEâVE GOT THESE OTHER BIG ONES OUT OF THE WAY, ITâS TIME FOR MY ACTUAL PROBLEM!
MAID FRICKIN MARIAN IS A FOX.
WHAT THE FRICKEN FRICKITY FRACK?!
ABSOLUTELY NOT! Disney did this JUST because they wanted Maid Marian and Robin Hood to be THE SAME ANIMAL, and thatâs ABSOLUTE BUNK!
WHY? Well thereâs two BIG reasons that is irks me!
First, the idea that they HAD to be together because they were the same animal or they were made to be the same animal so it wouldnât be âweirdâ that they were together.
LAME! UNINSPIRED! BULLSHI-
*ehem* Nonsense. Nonsense.
And itâs even MORE nonsense because of this little factâŚ
PRINCE JOHN AND KING RICHARD ARE HER RELATIVES!
MAID MARIAN THE NIECE OF PRINCE JOHN AND KING RICHARD!
Okay, you could argue that Maid Marian was adopted, or that King Richard married a lovely fox woman and the fox womanâs relative had a daughter and THAT was Maid Marian. And YES, that would make the situation plausibleâŚ
EXCEPT!
This is MEDIEVAL ENGLAND and they are ROYALTY and that kinda stuff wouldnât fly even IF King Richard is the King.
WHAT IâM SAYING ISâŚ
DISNEY ARE COWARDS FOR NOT HAVING A BIG LIONESS LADY DATE A TINY FOX MAN AND WE WERE ROBBED!
#I cannot focus enough to read all of this but that last part is a GREAT POINT
I really recommend reading the rest, itâs gold
Also this post is a goddamn mood
I couldnât rest until I brought this lioness to life. I hope my humble Maid Marian does your imagination justice! @kdinjenzenâ
YESSSSSSSS~
Redrew some scenes from the movie with Lioness Maid Marian ((Adgbbfg I tried to draw in the style of the movie, Iâm sorry if it looks a bit weird QwQ))
TAKE MY MONEY I NEED THIS VERSION OF THE MOVIE NOW
