Mark Colle - Rafâs Flower Man
âThey grow, they bloom, they fade. You canât hold on to them for ever. Fashion is like that too in a way - it comes and it goes.âÂ
The Antwerp based florist Mark Colle talks to Dazed Digital about collaborating with Raf Simons and the relationship between fashion and flowers.
Before he impressed with his perspex boxed arrangements of peonies, goldenrod, dahlias, carnations, and delphiniums at Raf Simonâs final show for Jil Sander, he worked with  Ann Demeulemeester and Dries Van Noten.

They grow, they bloom, they fade. You canât hold on to them for ever. Fashion is like that too in a way - it comes and it goes. They are symbolic for richness, romance. They capture people because of their smell, their appearance. They enhance emotion, create emotion even. Just like fashion does.
Mark Colle created the floral displays for two of the most memorable moments in fashion in 2012. For Raf Simonsâ final Jil Sander show, his blooms stood proudly - a bold display of feminity. At Simonsâ Haute Couture collection for Dior, Colle used a million flowers to create a set that sparked a million reblogs (rough estimate).
Susie Bubble spoke to the florist about his work, which you can read here at Dazed Digital.
Hereâs a video of the set-up of the floral display at the Dior show that is well worth watching.
