In the Wake - David Kimmick

With the new Magic the Gathering set Battle for Zendikar being released next friday, I wanted to create something to express my love for the Eldrazi. I’m really happy how the colors and overall composition of this piece came out, but doing those runes on the Hedrons was… maddening.

Anyway, what better way to launch my new blog and celebrate the release of Battle for Zendikar than to do an art giveaway.

what is the actual meaning behind the bands name?

the band’s name came from Tyler while he was still in college. he took a theatre class and studied the play “All My Sons” by Arthur Miller. Well in the play the main character owns a company that sells/manufactures airplane parts to be shipped out for WWII, after the production of the parts it is discovered that the parts are faulty and the main character has a decision: he can either send the faulty parts out and get money from them and continue production, or he can choose to not send the parts out and take the loss of production to make the parts safe to use. he decides to send the faulty parts out and is responsible for the death of twenty one pilots at the end of the play because of the trouble and heart ache he causes the main character ultimately commits suicide. the band name is basically a reminder. in life you’re always going to be faces with tough decisions, you can take the easy way out or you can work hard, think through your choices, and make the right decision.

You thought it was splinter twin, but it was me, Dio Presence of Gond!

This innocuous little aura does a lot of goofy things. Even with a card as simple as midnight guard, it goes infinite, but there’s lots of other creatures with simple untap triggers that can use it as well!

For you red-playing folk, you can also use Elemental Mastery, which is fairly decent in and of itself!
