🦉🍞Healing Owl Grilled Cheese

2 slices Rye or Whole Wheat Bread (abundance, prosperity, grounding) 3 slices Vegan Cheese (prosperity, love, communication, healing) 2 slices Black Olive (warding, healing, peace, protection) 1 teaspoon Vegan Butter or Olive Oil (healing, peace, protection) circle cookie cutters

with hot chocolate season on the way, there are a lot of subtle ways to work a little magic into your mug! a compiled list of easy recipes to have some magic in your day

for all recipes, melt chocolate in the microwave, and mix in heated milk.

Caramel 🍬

½ cup milk, 5 oz. chopped milk chocolate, 3 tsps caramel, ¼ cup heavy cream.  for love, kindness, domestic works

Cinnamon Spice 🍃

1 cup milk,  5 oz. chopped dark chocolate, ¼ tsp cinnamon, a pinch cayenne pepper. divination, fortune, healing, power, prosperity, protection, psychic abilities, spirituality, wealth, and wisdom.

Orange  🍊

1 cup milk,  2 oz. chopped dark chocolate, ½ tbsp sugar, ½ tbsp grated orange peel. for beauty, divination, fortune, love, purification, and wealth.

White Lavender 🌾

1 cup whole milk, ½ chopped white chocolate, ¼ tsp lavender flowers. for chastity, happiness, love, peace, protection, and purification.

½ cup milk, 5 oz. chopped milk chocolate, 1 tsp vanilla extract. for happiness, love, and lust.

Peanut Butter 🌰

I just wanted to put together a series of posts with some recipes that I’m interested in. I’m not taking any credit for these–link is in the title of the recipe.

Pink Dandelion Wine

2 quarts fresh dandelions blossoms

2 quarts water

2 cups fresh or frozen raspberries

1 lemon

¼ tsp cinnamon

4-5 cups sugar

1/3 cake active yeast

Remove the stem and leaves from the blossoms, and boil in water.

Remove from heat and let stand overnight, then strain.

Add lemon, raspberries, cinnamon and sugar (should be overly sweet to the taste).

Warm mixture over low flame until the sugar is dissolved (honey many be substituted in equal proportions).

When the mixture is lukewarm, add the active yeast which has been suspended in warm water.

Cover the pan with a towel and let it set for three days undisturbed.

Each time you check it, visualize the energy in your wine increasing even as the bubbles are forming ( the sign that fermentation has started).

Strain the mixture again and bottle in loosely corked bottles.

Once the corks no longer pop out, taste to see if the wine needs additional sugar.

If so, return it to the stove and sweeten to taste, but bring it to a boil so it kills the yeast. Cork tightly and let age for one year in a cool, dark area for best results.

Dandelion Wine

1 gallon of fresh picked dandelion flowers

3-4 lbs sugar

1 lemon

rind of 1 lemon

1 orange

rind of 1 orange

1 Tbsp brewers yeast

¼ ounce of compressed yeast

Place fresh picked dandelion flowers them in a large tub, pour 1 gallon of boiling water over them and let it steep for about 10 or so days stirring now and then. 

Fairy Spice Cakes

These delicious cakes are best left in the garden for the Elemental Folk on nights such as Samhain or Lammas.

½ cup sweet Muscat wine 2 tablespoons fine brown sugar 1 large egg ⅔ cup flour ½ teaspoon poppy seeds ⅛ teaspoon ground cinnamon ⅛ teaspoon ground nutmeg ⅛ teaspoon salt Sunflower oil for frying

Mix the egg and the Muscat wine in a bowl. In a smaller bowl, mix together the flour, poppy seeds, cinnamon, sugar and salt. Stir this into the egg mixture. Let it stand for about ½ hour. Combine the nutmeg and honey in a small bowl. Heat some oil in a frying pan (about ½ inch in the bottom) until it’s hot. Drop the batter into the oil one generous spoonful each time and fry until golden. Place on paper towels to drain and then dip into the honey mix. Delicious!

Here is a big masterpost of different types of baths for different types of witches! Use these baths before or after witchcraft to pump yourself up or to wind down. And you do not have to be any specific type of witch to use any of these baths. Any witch can use them.

Note: Many of these baths call for crystals. Research crystals before getting them wet. Many of them listed you should not put in water, instead keep them at the edge of your tub or near it.

Sea Witch Bath

Kelp Powder (1 tsp)

Sea Salt (½ tsp)

Coconut Oil (1 spoonful)

Coconut Water (½ cup)

Sea Glass, Sea shells, aquamarine, ocean jasper, abalone, pearl, larimar, coral, sand dollars and/or clear quartz

Wood Spoon

Blue and white candles (optional- ocean scented ones)

Steps: Light your candles before filling the tub. Once you start filling the tub add your coconut oil, coconut water, sea salt and kelp powder. With your spoon stir clockwise to help mix in the powder, which can take a bit. The water should turn a faint green tint (the more kelp you add the greener it gets but also the stronger the smell gets). Line your tub’s edge with your sea glass, sea shells, and gemstones. Be sure not to let the gemstones fall in the water, especially if they are ones that can’t get wet. Get into your tub and enjoy.

Note: Kelp powder smells very strongly of kelp, it is a scent I personally like but a lot of people don’t. Air out your bathroom a bit after the bath to disperse the smell. Also if you do not wish to smell like kelp yourself, rinse off after your bath quickly.

Swamp Witch Bath

Kelp Powder (2 spoonfuls)

Clay or Bath Mud like Moor Mud (read label for how much to use)

Green and brown candles

Wooden Spoon

Snail shells, alligator teeth, rounded rocks and any green gemstones you may have

Optional- Moss if you have potted moss to keep on the edge of the tub (or a moss bathmat)

Steps: Light your candles then begin to fill your tub. Add in your kelp powder and the mud, using your wooden spoon stir clockwise to mix. Depending on the type of mud/clay you are using the water will either turn very green to a dark brown. Line your tub with your gemstones, rocks, teeth and snail shells. If you are bringing in a moss plant or other plants keep them near the tub. Get into the tub and relax, if your moss is a stepable type of moss and in reach you can rub your fingers in it as you relax.

Note: Like the sea witch bath, you may want to air out the bathroom after your bath. This bath will smell much stronger of kelp and you may want to shower afterwards to avoid smelling strongly of kelp. You may have to rinse your tub to rid of mud used.

Forest Witch Bath

Pine Needles

Pine essential oil (2 drops)

3 bags of green or black tea

Green Candles (optional- tree or plant scented ones)

Steps: Light your candles and begin filling your tub. In you sachet add 1 part cedar chips and 1 part mint. Tie it shut and add to your bath as it fills. You may then add the pine needles to float freely or you may add them in a sachet as well. Add your two drops of pine oil once the tub is half filled to ensure it is well diluted in the bath. Add your tea bags into the water, line your tub with the pinecones and get in.

Note: essential oils can be harsh on certain skins, dilute the oil with a carrier oil and test on your skin to see if it affects you. If your skin is too sensitive for pine oil omit it from the spell.

Floral Witch Bath

Rose petals

Lavender

Steps: Begin filling your tub. Add in the amount of epsom salts you usually use as well as your bubble bath. Drop in your sachet of coffee grounds when the tub is still filling. Sprinkle in your glitter onto the bubbles once the tub is about half filled. Start your music and line your tub with your quartz. Soak and enjoy yourself.

Tech Witch Bath

3 bags of black tea

Fairy lights, lamps, night lights, etc

1 Tbsp Olive Oil

Music Playing Device

Steps: set up your lights and LED candles as you wish. Be sure none of the wires are near the tub or where water will be, be safe! If you can turn off the main lights. Don’t do this if you can’t see well enough to move about safely! Begin filling your tub and add your tea. In your sachet add your oatmeal and add it to the bath. Start playing your music and get into your bath and enjoy.

Death Witch Bath

¼th cup olive oil

2 spoonfuls of Salt (or more if desired)

Purified, bottled or moon water (at least 1 cup)

White Sachet

Rosemary

White candles

Myrrh, Frankincense, Jasmine, Chamomile, or Sage Incense

Steps: Light your candles and incense; fill your sachet with rosemary. Begin filling your tub and add in your water, oil, salt and sachet. Let it fill to about half way before lining tub with your gemstones. Get in and soak and enjoy.

Steps: Light your candles before you begin to fill your tub. In your sachet add your Basil and Chamomile (about 1 part each). Add in your sachet and star anise as the tub fills. Add your glitters of choice to the water as well and until it glitters the amount you desire. Line your tub with the goldstone. Add your citrus peels or slices before you get in. Relax and enjoy your bath.

Note: Due to glitter you may have to rinse the tub after your bath.

Fire Witch Bath

2 drops red food coloring

Carnelian, citrine, lava stone, fire agate and/or red jasper

Steps: Light your candles before you begin filling your tub. In the sachet add your rosemary, cloves and marigold. Add the sachet and sunflower oil as the tub fills. Line your tub with the crystals and stones you have available. Once the tub is nearly filled add 2 drops of food coloring (or more if you want a more intense color). Get in and enjoy.

Note: food coloring shouldn’t stain your tub unless you use large amounts.

Water Witch Bath

Steps: Begin filling your tub. Add in your waters as it fills. In your sachet add in your jasmine, lemon balm, and catnip. Add in your sachet. As the tub fills line your tub with your gemstones and crystals. Once tub is about half filled add your cucumber slices and get in to enjoy.

Earth Witch Bath

Moor Mud

1 cup oats/oatmeal

Brown or Green Sachet

Sage Incense

Steps: Light your incense before filling your tub. As the tub fills, add in your mud to the amount it states on package. If needed use a spoon to stir it clockwise to mix. Add in your salt. In your sachet add your oats before dropping it into bath as well. Line your tub with your gemstones before getting in.

Note: Due to mud you may have to rinse or clean bath afterwards.

Air Witch Bath

Steps: Set up your sound playing device to play the sounds you desire to listen to. Light your candles and incense before you start filling your tub. In your sachet add your cilantro, lavender, rosemary, mint and dandelion. Place your feathers near your tub but where they won’t get wet and ruined. Line your tub with gemstones and add in your sachet. Get into your tub and enjoy.

Solar Witch Bath

Gold and Orange Candles

Marigold Tea (2-5 bags)

Black Tea (1 bag)

Orange slices or peels

1 drop of a citrus essential oil

Sunstone

Steps: Light your candles before filling your tub. As your tub fills add in your teas and one drop essential oil. Place our sunstone near your tub or about the rim. Once tub is about half filled add in your orange slices/peels and get in. Soak and enjoy.

Note: essential oils can be harsh on certain skins, dilute the oil with a carrier oil and test on your skin to see if it affects you. If your skin is too sensitive for the oil omit it from the spell.

Lunar Witch Bath

Steps: Light your candles before filling your tub. As your tub fills add your jasmine tea bags. In your sachet add 1 part mugwort and 2 parts anise before adding it to the tub as well as pouring in your moon water. Line the tub with amethyst and moonstone before getting into the water and enjoying.

So maybe you’re a college witch with limited space and money, limited to the one window in your dorm. Or, maybe you’re a witch without extensive backyard space who wants to start up a magical garden. Perhaps you’re a kitchen witch who wants the freshest herbs right at her fingertips.

For many witches, having a garden seems to be a bit of a no-brainer. After all, plants and magic go hand-in-hand. Plus, when thinking of a witch, it’s hard not to think of a cottage in the woods with a little vegetable garden out front. Unfortunately for the majority of us, our cottage in the woods is a tiny flat, and our garden out front is a windowsill with limited space.

This is when it comes time to embrace your craftiness and bring your garden indoors! Not only does it place your garden in a convenient location, it also allows you to freshen the air, recycle what would otherwise harm the earth, and embrace your witchy green thumb!

An Excuse to Have More Wine!

Okay, so this is a cute and somewhat family oriented garden. It breaks away from the more meditation-oriented garden from last week, and strays away from the initial intensity of terrariums. But it sticks to the simplicity and ease of care that you would have with any succulents!

With midterms and various other tests plaguing our college witches, there’s sure to be plenty of wine being consumed in order to ease that tension. (Or, if you’re like me, your excuse for having a lot of wine is the fact that you “cook” with it.) Regardless, corks are often seen as nothing more than a tedious obstacle blocking your way to the delicious and happy-inducing fermented grape juice inside the bottle. Well, to most folks, anyway… I’ll leave the significance of corks in wine bottling to one of my kitchen witchery posts. So when all is said and done, many corks end up just being thrown away by the end of the night.

Succulents come in a range of shapes, colors, and sizes, from the massive saguaro to the tiny rock plants. But what makes them so easy to care for is the fact that often they can easily root from clippings and they require very little water in order to survive.

Corks, meanwhile, are great at maintaining low levels of moisture for extended periods of time, providing an ideal potting source for succulents. As such, it only makes sense to bring a bit of green into the home by using the corks as a pot!

You Know the Drill…

All you need (aside from the wine) is a cork, a drill with two bits (a quarter inch bit and a smaller bit for making a leading hole), potting soil, a little bit of aquarium gravel, and some clippings from small succulents.

Using the smaller bit, drill a leading hole into the cork, being careful to avoid drilling all the way through it. Then, use the larger bit to widen the hole so as to turn your cork into a miniature pot. Add a little bit of potting soil, followed by your clipping. Add a little more soil and gently tamp it down to secure the clipping into place, and decorate with a little bit of aquarium gravel. It’s as simple as that!

A common use for these plants is to glue a magnet to the back, allowing the succulents to serve as living refrigerator magnets. For me, I see these adorable little succulents being great gifts or even cute decorations for the small dorm room.

As I’ve mentioned, not much care is needed beyond watering every ten days or so. You can use a dropper to administer the water, or carefully use a small spoon to apply water.

How Can I Witch This?

Succulents vary greatly in their magickal uses. Jade plants are exceptional for inviting wealth into the home, whereas agave is great for attracting sweet and positive energies. Coordinate your plants with what your intent is. The cork itself can be decorated with runes, sigils, symbols, et cetera, or can even be studded with crystals!

If you’re going for the magnet idea, you can take a green spin on the concept of crystal grids, and instead create a succulent grid right there on your refrigerator, using the intent from the plants to attract the energies you want much in the same way as you would arrange crystals!

As mentioned before, these little plants make for great gifts, and therefore can be used as spells for others, as well. Aloe for healing, or jade for prosperity, et cetera.

If you’re trying to practice discreetly, these plants are a great way to do so!

And lastly, you can place crystals in the bottom of the hole you’ve drilled to correspond to the intent of the plant or to encourage health for the plant. This is a great way to practice a little bit of garden witchery in a very small setting!

Play around and get creative with the different ways that you can work with these little succulents to brighten your dorm or window!

So because things have been crazy & stressful I want to remind everyone that it’s important to take a break from time to time and let go of the things that might be a little too heavy right now. Stop, breathe deep and take a moment to live in the moment & clear your mind! It’s ok to treat yourself, it’s ok to stop and relax!

Before you continue, please be aware of any allergies you might have! Always play it safe and read labels! This is just my personal blend but please feel free to substitute things to suit your needs! If you are unsure of something, a quick google search for alternatives should help! <3

Things You Will Need:

-Epsom Salt: Epsom Salt is great for relaxing muscles and soothing any tension you may be carrying. If you choose to use salt’s that are scented, be aware that the mingling smells combined with the oils and incense might effect the overall scent of your bath! Approx 1 cup

-Himalayan Salt: Salt in general is great for cleansing & purification, himalayan salt has the added bonus of self love & positivity! Just a small pile in about the palm of your hand should do.

-Lavender Essential Oil: Much like the rest of the ingredients, you don’t have to use this sent, I say lavender for a couple reasons: it’s a scent that is perfect for calm soothing relaxation, this oil is safe for skin contact, and it’s my preferred scent, hah! Please make sure whatever oil you use is safe for skin! Approx 5 drops.

-Dry Lavender: Now when I say dry lavender, I’m really saying any safe herb or flower you choose, hah! These can be dry or fresh! Again lavender is known for it’s relaxation benefits but feel free to look up herbs online or try some of these other relaxing herbs: -chamomile -rosemary

-green tea -mint

-lemon balm -rose

-Small Bag/ Cheesecloth: So this part is optional for anyone who does not want the salts & flowers floating openly in the bath water. You are essentially going to be making a bath teabag using either a small loose fabric bag, cheese cloth or even a coffee filter will work! You are going to be putting everything but the oil in this and tying the top tightly closed so nothing spills out!

-Candles: If you have the counter space (that’s safe for it) I highly recommend candles! Putting out 3-4 small candles always helps me get into a more magical state of mind!

-Incense: If you like, try lighting your fave incense while you soak!

-Crystals: And heck yes you should put out some crystals to help raise your vibration to a positive level! You can have them set out nearby the tub OR if you know they will be ok in salt water you can add them into your bath with you! Remember to look up the properties of crystals before adding them into the water! I personally like to use tumbled amethyst, clear quartz and rose quartz stones which help with clarity of mind, positivity and self love!

-Drinking Water: Yes, drinking water! I always find myself getting dehydrated when I take these baths, not just because it’s hot & steamy but also because of the salts which can dehydrate you! I like to make an ice cold water with cucumber, blueberries and a little lemon!

And lastly, feel free to put your phone somewhere safe and play some meditation music!

Now that you have your items gathered up & you are ready to turn on the bath water take a moment to stop and breathe deeply. Imagine that all the thoughts, feelings and vibrations that are weighing you down or stressing you out are large stones in your arms. They are heavy but they are not serving your highest good. Remind yourself, “I no longer need these and they no longer weigh me down” and visualize yourself letting go of these stones. As you do this breathe deeply exhaling as you let go of the troubles from yesterday. Once you have let go of these troubles remind yourself “I allow myself to relax free of worry and free of fear”

<3 LET’S GET RELAXING! <3

Turn on your meditation music, light your candles and start your incense! Start filling your tub with hot/warm water, if you put your ingredients in a bag submerge and let the bag soak as the bath fills. If you choose to do the ingredients loose; as the bath fills add your salts and oils stirring them into the bath with your hand in a clockwise motion. Once the tub has filled add your crystals and herbs. Imagine that the crystals combined with the salts and herbs have made the water a bright glowing water of positivity and relaxation. As you step into these bright waters imagine it dissolving away any stress, worry, fear, anxiety, anything at all. Breathe deeply and say some positive affirmations! These can be anything from “I wash away the troubles of yesterday” to “I am at peace” or anything in particular that you feel is best for you! Once you have finished, make sure you compost all herbs and never let them go down the drain!

Stop it.

I understand you mean it as a pleasant greeting, but it’s actually very rude. Just like I don’t want a Christian asking their god to bless me every time I sneeze, I don’t want you asking whomever it is you worship to bless me, either.

Why? When you ask a deity to bless or damn someone or something, you are calling that deity’s attention to that object. This can be spiritually harmful to the coercively ‘blessed.’

Let’s illustrate an example of why. I am not a Christian. When I sneeze around my girlfriend’s Baptist mother, I am told ‘bless you.’ Because the act of asking a deity to bless someone draws the attention of that deity to that person, I now have the attention of a ‘wrathful,’ ‘jealous’ god [You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God” (Exodus 20:4-5)] when I am not one of his people. Thus, I am at risk of experiencing his wrath.

“But I mean to be nice! It was a pleasant greeting, a wish for well-being!” Sorry, but in this case, intent does not matter. I could call someone a horrible slur and mean it ‘in the most positive of ways!’ but it doesn’t change the fact that I just insulted them, no matter what I meant.

If you still want to extend a wish for wellness, there are other things you could say. I would suggest the German ‘gesundheit,’ which translates roughly to ‘to your health’ and is a word that has been adapted into the English language and thus should be understood by most. For speakers of other languages, I’m sure there is an equivalent in your tongue.

Now, I’ve heard some people say that because someone means well, they’d be pleased an honored to have someone ask their god(s) to bless them. If you are one of those, I extend to you tidings and blessings of Eris Discordia, and on behalf of some Ásatrúar and Hindu friends, family, and acquaintances, that of Loki and Kali.

Okay, now in all seriousness, there are some deities you just don’t want the blessings of. See above for examples.

Lastly, you might risk offending your own gods by doing that. Seriously, if a legitimate Wiccan were to say ‘blessed be’ to me, I’d be confused as fuck. I’m not Wiccan, why would the Lord and Lady of the Isles give half a shit about me?

Maybe I take my spirituality much more seriously than others, but I wouldn’t dare call upon my gods over trivial matters and I never understand why others insist on doing so.

It has a specific ritual context that has a specific particular meaning for those who use it.

It’s similar, even still, to “So Mote it Be.” 

It’s like putting at the end of your post:

If that annoys you just looking at it because you use So Mote it Be in the context of a ritualized spell trying to accomplish through spoken words… that’s the exact feeling that most initiated wiccans feel when they see you use blessed be like it’s a prostitute. 

Now, if that makes me ‘swared’ and an ‘ass’ THANK YOU. I would rather be an ‘swared’ ass in your eyes then be fucking put on the spot dealing with a deity at all or with a situation out of my control.
