“There’s a cute little bakery down the street,” she grinned nodding and putting the box on the table. “Please take as many as you want. They’re so so so so good and I couldn’t tell the old lady that I only wanted one.” 

Listen…she worked her butt off at the gym. There was no reason she couldn’t enjoy the hot chocolate and warm baked goods from the bakery just down the street. She deserved them after all. She walked proudly into the lobby with the box of goodies in hand, fully prepared to share. “Do you want a cookie? I think there are brownies too. They’re all delicious and warm.”

isaak was not a good listener. tuning out voices was easy– especially ones he wasn’t all that familiar with. he had missed the entire beginning of her point and hardly heard the ending of it. she was lucky he heard any of it “ competing? what, in like a sports game or something? ” he was not familiar with the world of pageantry at all, so maybe it was better he’d missed it all.

    associating himself with strangers who talked to themselves at coffee shops wasn’t necessarily in ryland’s nature. he tended to be more the sort who might call the manager on those sorts of antics, grandiose sense of self-importance registering even the most minor inconvenience as a personal affront. however, he’s also a very shallow man and ‘pretty blonde’ seems to perfectly describe his type, of late especially. so she gets a pass and a passing glance at that. “ don’t be, ” he shrugs off her apology with a practiced ease. “ what kind of pageants do you have on the brain, exactly? i’m pretty sure you can still enter a beauty pageant if that’s what you’re worried about. “

“peanut butter is the most disgusting looking thing in the world. it’s literally just… mushed up peanuts, like why does that seem appetizing to people?” she asked, her nose scrunching up. “we don’t even fill them up with water, we fill them up with like, jello or pudding — or anything super sticky. my favorite is molasses or like, chocolate milk syrup. that’s always a blast. i like to see how angry people get. if they try to come after me, i just throw more at them. i’m a child at heart. i’ll never grow out of that immaturity,” she said. “jeez, i wish my family was smaller. i always end up having to share my bed with sandy and a couple kids — and it’s only a queen,” she said. “to make him feel important. he sucks at everything. he works at pop’s pizza parlor, only he’s terrible at it. but pop won’t fire him cause ”non licenzi la famiglia“, but the second i take over, gino’s out. i love him, but if he’s not doing any good for my business, he doesn’t get to be part of it,” she said. “i mean, don’t get me wrong, i woulda still loved my kid if it happened, i was just too immature and getting myself into too much trouble to actually be a mom.”

“i keep a copy on me at all times in case i like… drop out of nowhere. happened last year, but it was the restaurant’s fault. i asked if anything came in contact with peanuts. they said no. stupid bitch didn’t know peanut oil counted, went into anaphylactic shock and was in the hospital for two days. peanuts are my biggest allergy. if i touch them, i need an epi shot. it’s not so bad that if someone ate peanuts and then breathed on me that i’d go down, but it might as well be that bad. one of my nephews is obsessed with peanut butter sandwiches, so when my sister is in town visiting and i’m watching him, he throws a fit because i won’t let him have any and i’m like ‘do you want me to die and never be able to help you throw water balloons at people again?’,” she said. “oh please, christmas is when you really get to see how we are, it’s ridiculous. thirty-four people in one living room. mom, sophia, sandy and leo in the kitchen, pop, alvin and my brother-in-law jackson talking about the damn dodgers or yankees, me and most of the kids playing the noisiest games ever invented, gino’s probably burning the turkey outside because he can’t fucking cook to save his life, stanley, louise and joey yelling at me to stop teaching the kids easier ways to climb on the roof of the house. it’s wild, man. oh, i forgot about tony, he’s always recording everything, there are so many home videos,” she said. “after i found out i’m allergic to it, i did my research. i didn’t want it to happen again, but i also didn’t wanna risk std’s or surprises that take nine months to get.”
