when he was young, laurie spent a lot of time with a nanny who introduced him to the game of chess. surprisingly, he excelled at it, showcasing a cleverness that often goes unnoticed amidst his tumultuous lifestyle. he still plays everyday, though usually just on chess dot com. his score is 1874. kinda slayed ?

laurie's father owns a media conglomerate ( clairvision enterprises ) similar to that of abc, nbc, cnn, fox, the fictional waystar royco from succession, etc. the company was founded in 1996, a year before laurie was born, and started simply as a news broadcast channel called SCNBC — st. clair news broadcast channel. over the years, the company has evolved to include holdings such as numerous print and digital media publications, a film production studio, a theme park with resorts and a cruise line, and even its own streaming service. politically, scnbc is generally left-leaning, though it has a reputation for being a low-biased source for news.
