thanks for answering! I agree with you but I can't help wondering about the wording; betrayal for love could be synonymous with jealousy which would fit Tyrion but I wonder about it maybe being Jon because I keep going back to the reason the nights watch ended up killing him. They were pissed about the wildings and his over all rule but it wasn't until he made to leave to rescue "arya" from Ramsey that he got killed. That's why I'm on the fence. I wonder if he had to choose between Denarys and Arya again if he wouldn't be the one to betray her for literal love. Not jealousy or because she doesn't love him back like Tyrion. But because his love of Arya, to protect or save her etc would be stronger than whatever he has with Denarys...of course he could also betray her because he's dumb and falls into a trap of betrayal thinking he is saving her.

There are reasons for that.

Its queer that the howl of a wolf makes her feel lonely rather than scared unlike say Tyrion.

Now Tyrion in outline was designed to be enemies with Jon Snow , but it also proves that Grrm uses animals as methaphors for how relationship would go in the future. Even in the outline Jon snow and tyrion or arya and tyrion were certainly in good terms initially but later becomes a deadly rivalry with jon snow due to his love of arya.

Similarly note how arya thinks about dragon skulls.

“This time the monsters did not frighten her. They seemed almost old friends. Arya held the candle over her head. With each step she took, the shadows moved against the walls, as if they were turning to watch her pass. “Dragons,” she whispered. She slid Needle out from under her cloak. Silver hair is obviously associated with Targs and Dany.

Three treasons- once for blood, once for gold , once for love. I assume we are talking abt this prophesy.

There is another prophesy. From Quaithe.

“No. Hear me, Daenerys Targaryen. The glass candles are burning. Soon comes the pale mare and after her the others.Kraken and dark flame, lion and griffin, the sun’s son and the mummer’s dragon. Trust none of them. Remember the Undying. Beware the perfumed seneschal”.

Quentyn Martell or the sun’s son (sunspear/dorne martell assosiated with sun), seemed pretty innocent until he tried to nick a dragon and got burnt. Very few Krakens who are trustworthy (euron and victarion are certainly not). Mummers dragon is not trustworthy for obvious reasons . 

You would note lion is also mentioned.  I think the lion being talked about is Tyrion because the language is “soon comes the ….” . Ie whoever is the lion is coming to Dany and not Dany going to them. Though Jaime and Cersei are also lions they are not travelling towards Dany unlike Tyrion.

Another prophesy of note is  by moquorro to Tyrion.

“Dragons old and young, true and false, bright and dark. And you. A small man with a big shadow, snarling in the midst of it all.”

This seems to indicate that Tyrion is not really in any particular side but is in the thick of all the action of the dragons and possibly playing for himself.

In contrast the associations to Jon in the visions dany sees in the house of undying is positive, ie a blue rose in the wall filling the air with sweetness. She also sees a blue rose when bride of fire is mentioned.

Now it is possible that all the prophesies are red herrings in which case, yes Jon may be the traitor and Tyrion the loyal guy. But if the prophesies are true, then Tyrion is way more likely than Jon to betray Dany.

It was tough not to fall in love with Rhaegar and its tough not to fall in love with Dany. So I expect both Tyrion and Jon to fall in love or at  the very least get infatuated. I dont blame them because Dany is created in a way that any sane male will fall for her.

Tyrion is not the type to betray for gold or blood, that much we know from his character. Same with Jon. Even he wont betray Dany for gold or blood. Jorah is another candidate of course for the betrayal for love, while Daario can betray for gold too.

But considering the positive connotations Jon has in prophesy for Dany, including bits about slayer of lies (ie danys role in proving the true heritage of jon and fake heritage of fake aegon), blue rose appearing in bride of fire thing and blue rose filling air with sweetness in wall and negative connotations Tyrion has relatively, its tough not to go with Tyrion , considering that he is a main character who has risen to become her hand. ( I dont think these prophesies are red herrings)

I am not stopping anyone from making gifs the way they want .

My issue was not even that sansa was queen or bran was rook or arya was knight. It was the wording! Ie Bran as rook would serve king and queen.  Like Bran serving Jon and Sansa???? He is a a equal. You could simply use proper wording like a rook who is the watcher of threats to realm. Is that much effort such a big deal?????  Or do you need to just copy paste wording from other gifs and make stuff ( which is what the maker of the stuff told me).

Because if actual effort is put into wording , more people will like it and reblog it.  Poor choice of wording makes the difference between actual highly rated gifs and gifs which are attacked by people. It also leads to misinterpretation of gifs’ intention. 

So basically that Bran thing made me look at the Arya as knight in a different light. Ie to show she is less important than her sister. Something , I would not have thought if the Bran as rook would have been worded properly!!!

I again appreciate the effort she put into it, but obviously she could be more sensitive abt the wording if she did not want negative feedback.

Hey!! I am so sorry for the delayed reply as I was busy , but also some keys of my keyboard did not work, which made writing replies a real chore.

I am so disappointed that they are not doing 10 proper seasons rather than 8 fast paced ones.  I think that is part of the reason they are losing authenticity. However that still does not explain Jon’s brain dead response to arya being dead!!! Completely unlike the books. He just had to show facial emotions like emilia was doing so well in that episode.

I know most of the fandom blames d and d for that, but I am not sure they are the ones to blame. I saw this script for episode 5.

In this there is no raven to jon snow mentioning Arya (just the wight thing), which is weird but much more preferable to Jon’s reaction on hearing about Arya’s arrival.  There is also some nice dany jon conversation.

Also before the boatsex scene Cersei teases Tyrion abt Dany. Says he always had a prefence for foreign whores and that Dany is his type just like Shaea.. Tyrion does not disagree, but defends dany and praises her.

See the bolded portion. A head of a dragon can never be like this. Further he does not seem pleased at Dany’s love for Jon (why would a head of dragaon be bothered by two heads liking each other. heads are supposed to love each other) , another  In addition as viserion is dead there are not three dragons to ride and tyrion being a dragon rider was quoted as a reason why he would be a head of a dragon.

Moreover Quaithe’s prophesy also seems to hint that Tyrion is not someone to be trusted.

The Lion is Tyrion and the mummer is Varys. So I expect them to betray dany very soon.  Tyrion ‘s whole motivation for serving Dany was that he unconsiously loved her and admired her. But would he able to do that when all Dany has on her mind is Jon and not Tyrion’s self percieved genius schemes.

I have always put up Arya’ name as a head of a dragon, because she has this soul mate type connection to jon which dany also seems to have

If its not Arya , Bran is a big possiblity due to his importance in fighting nights king, though he lacks the soulmate connection. Or the heads of dragon may not be all humans.

Now I accept that my conclusions is premature for the following reasons

1) Frikidoctor’s info may be false.

2) This is ultimately Tyrion’s initial reaction. And overall he has been positive to jon’s thoughts abt whitewalkes. So it may be one off. And if he does not like dany thinking about jon rather than his genius ideas, maybe he will change and remain loyal, and be perfectly accepting of dany’s love of jon (though judging from quathe’s prophesy, I think he will betray dany due to his jealousy towards jon and being friendzoned and also because dany does not listen to him much anymore and rather tries to be a dragon and follows her own instincts. The tarly burning really shook him (and probably varys) and reminded him of aerys and her going off to rescue jon snow against his advice does not really help )

So I was just watching this inside the game of thrones  video for  season 7 ep 1 featuring Peter Dinklage and Emilia <3.

Around minute 1:16 Peter mentions how Dany is different from the people he has served in that she is not a family member, but a woman. He warns that it will create complications in their relationship.

We do not know what these complications will be , but i am making some guesses of their future plot direction.

 Cersei has got the iron throne. I think the showrunners were winking at the audience when she and jaime discussed the prospect of creating a lannister dynasty on the iron throne. Mostly , I think cersei will die without another child and jaime would be out there fighting white walkers /dying in brienne’s arms rather than be interested in kingship. So who could continue the lannister dynasty?

Tyrion is certainly a candidate. It would be weird if a character of his political accumen and overall plot importance does not make it to the iron throne.

And these complications in dany and tyrion’s  relationship that Dinklage is mentioning could be the cause. 

Tyrion may not know now, but he is extremely close to the iron throne by right of succesion in lannister line. And I find it surprising that the showrunners are not driving it home to him every now  and then the prospect that he himself could be king . Unless they are planning a surprise in season 8 where a dwarf would  climb the iron throne and fulfill kit harrington’s desire.

 Kit in a recent interview when asked who should sit on the  the iron throne mentioned Tyrion’s name. His reasoning was that Tyion as king would surprise the audience, more than Jon or Dany.Further he found the idea of a dwarf climbing the iron throne comical .

So I expect Tyrion to have a brief rule before the Starks and esecially Jon end up as the final rulers

Foreshadowing 1

“You,” Ned said, kissing her lightly on the brow, “will marry a king and rule his castle, and your sons will be knights and princes and lords and, yes, perhaps even a High Septon.” 

Ned would never expect her to marry Joffrey or Robert Baratheon. So why is he saying this? Unless it is Grrm speaking through Ned’s mouth and possibly giving a hint about her future? 

While some people claim that the words were meant for Sansa because Arya replies “No that’s Sansa”, I think it is simply a case of misdirection which George often uses in his foreshadowing. For instance-

“King,” croaked the raven. The bird flapped across the solar to land on Mormont’s shoulder. “King,” it said again, strutting back and forth.

“He likes that word,” Jon said, smiling.

“An easy word to say. An easy word to like.”

“King,” the bird said again.

“I think he means for you to have a crown, my lord.” [Jon said.]

Jon just like Arya thinks that the particular word is not meant for him. But as we have seen in the show, it was indeed meant for him. So that line about marrying a king could also be meant for Arya.

Foreshadowing 2

“Brandon. Yes. Brandon would know what to do. He always did. It was all meant for Brandon. You, Winterfell, everything. He was born to be a King’s Hand and a father to queens. I never asked for this cup to pass to me.”

Father to queens not queen. Sansa is marrying Joffrey. But why queens? Unless Grrm wants to hint to us that Arya is going to become a queen?

Foreshadowing 3

The wolf symbolism. Ie  Jon’s wolf’s name is Ghost and his spirit/ghost gets to spend time in it . In some way as a man returned from the dead, Jon himself is some kind of a ghost isnt he? Similarly Bran’s wolf dies at the end of summer in the show. Arya’s is named Nymeria who was a ruler of her people. Should that not be important?

And there is no gap anymore. “If a twelve-year old has to conquer the world, then so be it.”  -GRRM  when talking about abandoning the five year gap

There may be very few people who will be 12 in ADOS and Arya is among them. (Yeah I am down with Arya emulating her show idol Visenya as a conqueror ;) )

One argument people use to brush away the idea of Arya becoming a queen is that there is no such evidence in the show. I think they have given some sort of evidence. Watch this youtube conversation between Tywin and Arya.

Note how Arya is idolizing Visenya and knows that she had a sword called “dark sister” and claiming that Aegon conquered Westeros not by himself but due to his sister wives. Could this not foreshadow Arya being part of some sort of conquest in the side of Jon and end up becoming some sort of co-ruler (like Visenya) if not a queen? You may like this gifpost by the way :). Especially if you like me see parallels in Arya and Visenya.

The other argument people give is that Grrm abandoned plans about Arya becoming queen after he wrote the Game of Thrones book. But there is this quote in “A Dance with Dragons”!

The girl smiled in a way that reminded Jon so much of his little sister that it almost broke his heart. The snowflakes were melting on her cheeks, but her hair was wrapped in a swirl of lace that Satin had found somewhere, and the snow had begun to collect there, giving her a frosty crown. Her cheeks were flushed and red, and her eyes sparkled. 

Notice the connection of frosty crown with Arya. Could this not be a hint of Arya becoming a queen? With Alys as an Arya stand in.

Another similar one is here in  “A Feast for Crows” !!!

The girl was too young and too plain to be Sansa Stark, but she was of the right age to be the younger sister, and even Lady Catelyn had said that Arya lacked her sister's beauty. -Brienne thinking about Willow

but it was Willow shouting all the orders, as if she were a queen in her castle and the other children were no more than servants.

Brienne mistakes Willow for Arya in “A Feast for Crows” . And then she thinks of her as a queen!

Now the next bit is speculation but I think that Daniel Abraham is talking about the  Arya -Ned dialog “You will marry a king and rule his castle....”  when he says this


I’ve spoken to George a lot in the process.  The biggest issues we have are continuity questions.  There are things about this story that only he knows, and they aren’t all obvious.  There was one scene I had to rework because there’s a particular line of dialog – and you wouldn’t know it to look at – that’s important in the last scene of “A Dream of Spring.”

He has had to rework the line. Maybe he considered a part of the line unimportant and changed it. Like in the show where the writers replaced “You will marry a king” with “You will marry a high lord”. There are few other lines which fit. They have to be dialogs , not just thoughts and something which he may have had to rework.  So I think that line fits very well. For more details try this thread

As Daniel Abraham is talking about this line in 2011, there is a fat chance that Grrm has not abandoned the idea of Arya becoming a queen. The idea is further strengthened as Arya queen references have also been put by Grrm (using Willow and Alys) in AFFC and ADWD which are the most recent books :). 

It is also interesting to note that the initial title for “A Dream of Spring”, book was  “ A Time for Wolves” and Arya is the Stark who most strongly embraces her wolf identity. 

Grrm has claimed that he would be keeping the same ending as 1991 (when he wrote the infamous outline about a Arya-Jon-Tyrion love triangle) in an IGN interview . The exact quote is here

So maybe he will still make Arya a queen for Jon. But without the dark romance/passion and simply due to duty and familial love? Ony lord and Grrm knows :). Grrm is really into shadows as symbols of power. 

“Every man who walks the earth casts a shadow on the world. Some are thin and weak, others long and dark. You should look behind you, Lord Snow. The moon has kissed you and etched your shadow upon the ice twenty feet tall.”  -Jon ADWD (Mellisandre is speaking these lines)

Similarly Moquorro( a red priest in the books) says this to Tyrion

“Dragons old and young, true and false, bright and dark. And you. A small man with a big shadow, snarling in the midst of all.” -Tyrion ADWD

Going back to the quote you are talking about :)

What I think this means is that Tyrion will come very close to becoming king or actually become king for a short while/just a moment . How and why that may happen, I am not sure. But if Cersei can become queen, then Tyrion can become king as her brother . Or he may do it without that also once he gets a dragon.

I know Tyrion as an antivillain and an independent contender for the throne may not make sense if one goes by his show character. Which is very different from the books .

One of the things I wanted to explore with Jaime, and with so many of the characters, is the whole issue of redemption. When can we be redeemed? Is redemption even possible? I don’t have an answer… If you’re a Nazi war criminal and then spend the next 40 years doing good deeds and feeding the hungry, does that make up for being a concentration-camp guard? I don’t know the answer, but these are questions worth thinking about. I want there to be a possibility of redemption for us, because we all do terrible things. We should be able to be forgiven. The above quote is very important to understand Grrm’s motive behind Jaime as a character. What he is trying to do with Jaime? What is his future path?

There are some textual evidences that do make it seem that Jaime would be the Valonqar. The most powerful of them being-

Last night he dreamed he’d found her fucking Moon Boy. He’d killed the fool and smashed his sister’s teeth to splinters with his golden hand, just as Gregor Clegane had done to poor Pia. In his dreams Jaime always had two hands; one was made of gold, but it worked just like the other.

Jaime can also arguably be called little brother (Valyrian meaning for Valonqar) depending on whether you believe younger brother (by some minutes or seconds) is equivalent to little brother.

But whenever I try to wrap my head around this theory, my mind goes back to the above mentioned Grrm quote on Jaime’s redemption arc.

Following are some things to consider 

1)  Will it allow him to continue on his redemption arc?

Yes, Jaime being the Valonqar will give some dramatic irony. But it could also put into jeopardy Jaime’s redemption arc by killing a sister (his kin) who brothers and knights are supposed to defend . Instead of giving her a quick death by the sword, prolonging it by strangling and making her suffer. He has already pushed Bran. Killed Aerys from the back. Will Jaime be able to continue living after killing Cersei? How will he be able to live? Because to have some sort of redemption arc he has to live. If he cant live what redemption can he have? 

2) Will he able to pursue any kind of relationship with Brienne after killing Cersei?

Clearly Grrm is trying to set up something with Jaime and Brienne. The showrunners seem to be doing the same too, with the recent meeting between Jaime and Brienne at the riverlands. But after killing Cersei, will he have it in him to pursue other goals with Brienne ? Like wont he be completely destroyed? What about the honor that Brienne is trying to imbibe him with? Where is honor in killing his unarmed sister? Whats the point of naming his horse honor? (The wildfire thing is already done in the show. So what would he be trying to prevent? And is killing the only way to prevent it?)

3) Are there other people who could be Valonqar?

Yes. Tyrion for instance.

And the only reward I ask is I might be allowed to rape and kill my sister - Tyrion ADWD

So why not him? Tyrion has already strangled Shae. Wont be a stretch to imagine him strangling Cersei and making her suffer. It makes it easier for Jaime to continue his redemption arc. Share moments with Brienne. Jaime had mentioned in the TV show his desire to die in the arms of a woman he loves. So why not Brienne instead of Cersei? In the battlefield rather than suicide?

 Tyrion seems an obvious choice to be the valonqar which is why most theorists don’t think it is him. I feel that if Grrm goes by this “obvious” choice he would be teaching us something important about prophesy.

If Cersei had not been so mean to Tyrion, would Tyrion have ever become the Valonqar. What if Cersei had never heard the prophesy and had not been desperate to out him? To imprison him? To kill him? Would Tyrion stil be the Valonqar.

Those who have read Harry Potter may understand this irony. Why was Harry Potter the chosen one and not Nevile Longbottom? They both had the same signs. What made the difference was that Voldemort got scared of Harry and killed off his parents. If Voldemort had not killed off Harry’s parents would Harry have been so desperate to kill Voldemort? Would Harry Potter have got that Horcrux and the tools to kill Voldemort and become the chosen one?

Both Cersei and Voldemort are similar in that respect. They both chose to trust the prophesy, Because of their trust in the prophesy they committed certain actions, ie Cersei mistrusted Tyrion and imprisoned him. Voldemort tried to kill Harry. And it is those very actions that ensure the fulfillment of the prophesy. If Tyrion had not been imprisoned would he still have wanted to kill Cersei?

There are two men in the world who I can trust, if I can find them. I will not be alone then. We will be three against the world, like Aegon and his sisters. 

Dany is expecting that it will go like inverse Aegon. She thinks she will get two very trustworthy men whom she will marry. Interestingly she does not seem to thing they must be Targaryens. 

Could I love Daario? What would it mean, if I took him into my bed? Would that make him one of the heads of the dragon? Ser Jorah would be angry, she knew, but he was the one who’d said she had to take two husbands. Perhaps I should marry them both and be done with it.

She will get Jon. That is almost for sure.

The blue flower is clearly Jon. Her nephew and the closest thing to a classic hero if ever there is one in the books.Who is the third? Could it be Tyrion? Or Aegon? This is where it gets interesting.

The mummer’s dragon is Aegon and the lion is probably Tyrion.  

On one hand we are talking about  about finding “two men in the world who she can trust ” and the other hand she is being warned that two of them are not trustworthy. (Maybe the warning is false, but I am giving the warning the benefit of doubt so bear with me)

If you remove Tyrion and Aegon there are very few men left who have any Valyrian blood running in their veins and none of them are  important enough to be main characters (which is something we can expect from a head of a dragon). Who is the third one who is trustworthy and will grow up to be a fellow conqueror?

Sam , Greyworm and Missandei are certainly trustworthy and probably there may be some more who fit Dany’s criterion of trustworthiness but at this stage we must be looking at main characters. If you are talking about the third head of the dragon he has to be the key player.

Consider this quote

If we take this quote along with George’s quote in the outline we know where to look at. We can add Sansa Stark maybe but that is it.

The five key players are Tyrion Lannister, Daenerys Targaryen, and three of the children of Winterfell, Arya, Bran, and the bastard Jon Snow.

As Tyrion Lannister has already been ruled out .In case you are still not convinced maybe you can try out this post. (Please do not consider the show’s version of St Tyrion. They will probably set up the same thing as mentioned in the linked post but in a different way from Grrm)

The only three possible contenders are Bran, Arya and Sansa. And it does make sense in some ways.

Dany certainly has some connection to the wolves. Could it be Bran? 

It is possible as he is certainly trustworthy and loyal. But if she considers marriage a necessity this becomes unlikely. As Bran cares for Meera Reed and is more like earth rather than fire which she prefers.

 You must note the fervor with which Arya says “Aegon and his sisters”. The way she idolizes Visenya and mentions her sword Dark Sister. Arya is Jon’s dark sister. She certainly is the type of person who would buy into Dany’s us against the world talk. She is very very loyal and trustworthy to her own pack and friends.

There are very few people who will be 12 by the end of ADOS and Arya is one of them. 

There is a lot of hints to Arya marrying a king and some of them are in this post, but that is a different topic altogether. I have my doubts about what makes three heads of the dragon? Is it dragon riding? Is it marriage? Is it as Dany says being those two people she can trust and be completely united or be fellow conquerors like Visenya, Aegon and Rhaenys were.

The meaning that I am taking is that they must be soulmates and conquerors. Not necessarily marriage But these three soulmates who conquer the world. These three soulmates who are so united that they are not separate from the Dragon (who may be Jon or Dany). There are a lot of hints which prove Arya and Jon are soulmates (not necessarily romantic) for instance they say there lines together. They miss each other the most and consider each other the best means to prevent loneliness. This unity that Arya and Jon share may be shared by the three of them so much so that they are in effect one person. Three hearts that beat as one. The song of perfectly balanced ice and fire.
