Elbow Grease - synopsis:

Clara Williams is young, divorced, closeted, and haunted. At 25, she sees the world much differently than she did at 18. For starters, she hardly goes outside anymore—not since the faces of the townsfolk started appearing to her like nightmarish creatures straight out of a storybook. Thus, when she’s not at work, her days are spent in solitude.

Dreux Barnes is running from something. Working full time as the new manager of a beauty supply store in a small town is not exactly where she pictured herself at 26. The last in a long line of cursed “Spirit Whisperers,” Dreux is certain that she needs to be left alone. Choosing to focus on her craft, her only companions are the mannequins she uses to practice braiding.

When Clara stumbles into the store looking just as tired as Dreux feels, the two become destined to embark on a journey of self acceptance, new love, and exploring what it means to be black, queer women in a suburban Appalachia setting.
