Meaning of Statistical Quality Control
Statistical Quality Control means to control the quality of the products by using statistical methods which helps the firm to get more profit.
History of Statistical Quality Control
Walter A. Shewhart has discovered the Statistical Quality Control Concept. He is from United States of America.
He understood how Quality Control has changed from the Production Concept to the Customer Oriented Approach.
Now Customer has become the King of the Market.
Variations in Quality
Variations in Quality is done due to Chance and Assignable Causes.
Chance Causes are those causes in which there are very minor variations. These causes are very difficult to identify. To suspect these causes is also very uneconomical.
Assignable Causes are those causes in which the variations are not minor. In this causes, change in variations can be due to worker’s mistake, problems in the machine etc.
Techniques of Statistical Quality Control
The techniques of Statistical Quality Control are basically defined into major two types that are-
Process Control- In Process Control, the Quality Control Officer checks the quality of the product when the product is under the process.
In Process Control, it’s been checked that whether the Process is under Control or out of Control. This is also Known as Statistical Quality Control Charts.
Statistical Quality Control Charts
These Control Charts can be measurable or Countable.
For Countable, Control Charts for Attributes will be used.
Control Charts for Attributes are divided into 3 Charts that are-

P Chart
C Chart
For Measurable, Control Charts for Variables will be used.
Control Charts for Variables are divided into 2 charts that are-
x Chart
R Chart
Product Control-
In this, the Quality of a Product is controlled when the Product is in semi-finished form.
In this, they used a procedure to accept or reject the quality that is known as Acceptance Sampling
Acceptance Sampling is also divided into 3 parts that are-
Single Sampling Plan
Double Sampling Plan
Multi-Stage Sampling Plan
