āIām sorry, they called out my name, but I think this might be yours.ā they pushed the coffee cup across the counter to the person whoād been in line before them. although they didnāt remember the personās particular order, the coffee theyād found beneath the lid was certainly not a black coffee double shot with a dash of soy milk as theyād asked, despite the fact that their name was on the cup. they did remember, however, whoād stood before them in line.Ā āI havenāt drank from it yet, if that helps.ā
āSo this one must be yours.ā Stassi took the cup with a grateful sigh, taking a long drink before Cleo had even finished speaking. Stassi shrugged,Ā āIāll be honest, the only thing that would keep me from drinking this before a ten-hour shift at the Wyvern is if youād spiked it with Acromantula venom. Good thing you didnāt drink this, by the way. Thereās probably enough caffeine in here to wire a giant.ā

āIāve just realized that Iām allergic to beer. Can you believe that? Beer. What kind of nerd is allergic to beer? Well, me, I guess, but⦠Shit. Itās so cheap. And good. This is my worst nightmare; please take me away from this forsaken world. I need to find joy again.ā
āItās a real tragedy, McLaggen,ā Stassiās tone was amused from where she stood behind the bar,Ā āLuckily for you weāve got a lot more here than just beer. Here---,ā A few moments later, a bright blue drink was set in front of of Mina,Ā āTry it. On the house. Guaranteed to not kill you. Probably.ā
ā Thereās comfort in knowing that everything is temporary. ā
KIANA MADEIRA? No, thatās actually STASSI FLETCTHER. Only TWENTY-TWO years old, this RAVENCLAW alumni works as a BARTENDER AT THE WHITE WYVERN and is sided with THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX. SHE identifies as CIS-WOMAN and is a HALFBLOOD who is known to be BLUNT, ALOOF, and DECEPTIVE but also PERCEPTIVE, AMIABLE, and ADAPTABLE.
( AT A GLANCE )
anastasia āstassiā fletcher. twenty-two. aquarius. bartender. former ravenclaw. halfblood. an old flannel, sleeves rolled up. a wand tucked behind her ear. Ā a gin and tonic at 11am. smudged eyeliner and a messy grin. muggle cigarettes tucked into her back pocket. never really being good enough.
I. HISTORY & BACKGROUND
Many things could be said about Mudungus Fletcherānot many of them flatteringābut it could not be said the con artist who so deftly move through the magical world was without his charms. It was what kept him out of Azkaban, and it was, his daughter would later reflect, what catalyst for her entire existence. What else but an immense amount of charm could have swayed her birth mother, a young, Pureblood socialiteāwhoād, in a fleeting moment of rebellion, found herself at the Hogās Head on a hot summer night 23 years agoāgive her father the time of day, even for one night?
Regardless of what the pureblood princess whoād birthed her had in mind that night, it was clear Stassi herself was not part of the plan. A romp with a degenerate like Mudungus Fletcher could be overlooked, but a child born out of wedlock to him? Was too much for her, or her family, to bear. And so she bore it in secret for nine months, and on January 21, 2002, Anatasia Fletcher came into the world. Given her fatherās name, because her mother knew, even at birth, she would not be keeping her.
And whatever other flaws Mudungus might have (and Stassi could testify, there were many) he did keep her. When she was dropped off on his doorstep by a house elf only a week after her birth, he kept her, and raised her, in whatever way he knew how. And if he were a bit more absent than he ought to have beenā-if Stassi spent much of her childhood alone while Mudungus was out, making shady deals in shadier places, he at least always came home to her. He, at least, did not toss her out like yesterdayās trash, to be somebody elseās problem. Her childhood was not what one would call stableā-how could it be, with a career criminal for a father?ā-but it was informative, and Stassi was nothing if not a quick learner.
II. HOGWARTS & CURRENTLY
Stassi arrived at Hogwarts with secondhand robes and caustic wit that worked well to cover any insecurity she had. It was hard, at times, to come face to face with those who turned her nose up at herā-not necessarily because she cared about their opinion in particular, but because in their place she always imagined the woman whoād given birth to her, the flaws they would mock her for, she imagined, were all the reasons she was so unceremoniously given up. She was sorted into Ravenclaw, but traditional academics were never really her forteā-maybe a result of growing up around con artists and manipulation, but what Stassi truly understood? People.
Hogwarts got more bearable in her later years, when Stassi got better at containing her anger and resentmentāor drowning it out in firewhiskey when she couldnāt. She was friendly enough, but not normally a friend; letting people close to you was just allowing them the chance to abandon you later Ā on, so far as she was concerned. Still, there were a few that slipped through the cracks.
After Hogwarts, Stassi got a job tending bar at the White Wyvern, and sheās stayed there as the war ramped up. Working for Mei Xing Po, even only slinging drinks, offers a certain kind of protection, a neutrality that Stassi is loathe to give up, even if her father thinks heās smart enough to play both sides. Still, the tug of her conscienceā-the desire to be a better person even if she thinks sheās really notāis what prompts her to feel intel to the Order, in an unofficial capacity. She hears a lot at the Wyvern; as a place of intended neutral ground, people talk sometimes, and while she herself ought to keep quiet on what she hears, she canāt help but try and give the Order an edge. She knows itās be disastrous if she got caught, knows itās stupid to get involved and risk her neckā-so maybe, she thinks, she more like her father than she thought.
