“What are you singing to her, Doctor?”

This time there is no danger. He’s alive and there isn’t a dalek in sight. This time it’s a happy reunion and the fate of the universes don’t depend on them. What matter now is only them, just the two of them back together.

"My Doctor." Her grip tightens around him, never wanting to let go. "I missed you, so so much." Her lips brush against his cheek before leaving a small kiss against it.

She’s hesitant to pull away, but she does. Chocolate orbs stare up into the ones alike her own. There’s a moment of silence before she leans up, doing what she wanted to do for so long. Her lips meet his, hands finding their way to his hair.

After all this time, she's still the same. Sure, she looks different, eyes more sorrowful, but still full of that determination and fire that he fell in love with. She's Rose, the Bad Wolf, the fiery and compassionate girl that taught him how to be human, gave him his mercy back. Everything is okay when she's in his arms.

It amazes him how easy their kiss is. Not that it isn't electric, pulsing with an energy that is so pent-up and aching to get out, but it's as familiar as breathing. Being with Rose has always been easy; the two of them fit together like cliche puzzle pieces, thinking in tandem, working as a unit, on the same page in every single way. He's always had to save his companions, but it couldn't be further from the truth when it comes to Rose.

She's the one that saves him.

    [ The Doctor laughs loudly, his voice booming out in a short bark, fingers curling and uncurling, pressing into his palm, a test to see if this real. But of course it is. There's only one person in this galaxy that would dare to use his name, and that person is himself. There's also only one person with this much excitement over something as simple as a carnival. ]
