[Life Update 2022: Discretion Advised]
Earlier this year (2022), I went up to see my family in Oklahoma.
What was supposed to be a week-long visit wound up becoming a months-long disaster.
My mother, who'd suffered for the past 13 years, went septic. She'd gone septic before, but not like this.
She was heavily confused, didn't know where she was, and was unable to identify anyone correctly. And then she was unresponsive. Within hours.
She was rushed to the hospital.
After making some recovery in the ER, ICU, and eventually PCU of said hospital, she was transferred to a care center for physical rehab. While in the care center, her health started to decline again. But they eventually sent her home anyways.
Her health was steadily improving again at home, but something was still very Wrong.
On the morning of July 30th, she passed away at home.
Ever since then, I've been sorting through post-death affairs with my family. Making the occasional trip between OK and TX in order to take care of my own medical needs... though they lasted no more than a week at a time.
For the next few weeks, I'm home. But I'll just be going back up to OK in December, to continue sorting through my mom's things and taking care of what needs to be taken care of.
I haven't been here because of all of this.
I've barely been on Twitter. Or anywhere.
But hey. Now you know.
