If I ever do a hsr modern au with my oc and Dan Heng, they would’ve probably met at the hospital as kids. (Kinda inspired by the Dan Heng x reader Smau on tumblr that you need to check out! It’s the college au one!)
Ami stayed in and out of the hospital like it was her second home. Doctors couldn’t find out the cause of her memory loss and spotty brain. They couldn’t find out what was wrong with her. Events that happened to her seemed to be wiped out and she seems to be completely exhausted after that.
A faint memory when she was a little kid was she met this beautiful girl in the room beside her. The blonde had a passion though Ami couldn’t remember what it was. She was quiet yet confident. The blonde had that intelligence that never seemed to matched Ami’s at all. Then there was a day, an important one, that the blonde said something that made her completely disappear the next day. And the next.
It spans to weeks, months, and years. Regret sinks into Ami’s stomach when she couldn’t recall the blonde’s last words.
There was another confident person that came around a few years. They were older and also confident. Ami believed they were blind because she definitely stole some snacks under their nose. If they knew, they didn’t say anything. They felt important but Ami could only remember that they talked. She was the questioner and they were the answerer. They also disappeared one day, but she felt a head pat before that day.
The spotty memory seems to decrease when she got older. She was tested often and was homeschooled from the start. Then she met the black haired boy.
He was quiet and shy. A bookworm even when he was injured in a cast or some sorts. She met him after passing by his room. Ami wasn’t sure how she started talking to him but she was probably excited to see someone around her age since after being in the hospital for so long.
He had long hair. She could recall how smooth and silky it was. Her favorite hairstyle she put on him was in braids (?) off of her favorite childhood show. Her parents would always talk about how magical girls shows would help Ami to give hope and push on.
Sooo… it’s probably not wrong to deduce that Ami had put him on braids. Besides her favorite childhood character was in braids, why wouldn’t she put her friend on that hair style. Ami had short hair as a kid so there was not a chance she could pull that hair anyways! He didn’t stay that long but she knew that he was out there, somewhere.
Ami went to a private school the last 3 years of high school. She has undoubtedly has met one of the coolest upperclassmen ever! Welt and Himeko. Welt was a senior while Himeko was a junior at the time. Welt being the nerdy but super wise guy that busted out information of life like he’s on his second life. Himeko was the mysterious, confident, nice girl that helped her found her passion: coquette and sewing! Honestly, without them, Ami would’ve been doomed. Senior year for Ami was tough because her first ever friends from highschool were in college. Busy and focusing on their careers. She still talks to them once in a while.
Ami enrolled into a new college. Away from her high school, home, and hospital. It was quite difficult to be honest. Moving items into dorms and a whole new lifestyle sharing with someone. She’s currently rooming with Stelle. Stelle seems tired all of the time and she seems to be collecting buffed trash can figurines. Ami can’t be judging as much because of her new manga collection from Welt’s influence. The romance genre was also Himeko’s influence, but it was more indirectly… she thinks…
Anyways, point is, she’s in college in a new area! The libraries are so exquisite and so big. Ami steps into the library; the fresh book smell and the quiet environment pleases her. She did go to the library a little later but surely the spot in the upmost left corner isn’t taken!
She was about to go to her spot when she sees a medium tall, black short haired guy sitting at her table. He wore a black turtle neck sweater and was reading a novel of some sorts.
Ami went blank. Maybe she could sit somewhere else or? No way! She would never give up her spot! Surely, she could defer him away this spot!
“Hey— uh. Could I sit with you?” Asking someone else to move who sat first would be rude. Ami could internally feel her friends agreeing that this is the best choice. There are times when she has missed social cues because being mostly isolated during her early childhood.
The black haired guy barely looked up and gave a noise of approval. Ami sits across from him pulling out her laptop, textbooks, and journal.
It’s better to be ahead than be late. She did try hard to focus on her paper that will be due in 4 days but it’s hard to focus. Her eyes kept drifting to the guy in front of her.
There’s something about him that’ll pesters her mind every day and every night if she doesn’t confront it. He has bluish gray eyes. There’s red eyeliner under his left eye but not on his right. His eyes slowly trail along the words on his book. Wait, isn’t this what Himeko indirectly tell her to stop doing—
“Is there something you need?” He asked firmly. Finally looking at her.
“You look very familiar. Have we met before?”
