Gen had decided that she wanted to punish Ravi. Which is why when she thought that she should just ignore him. He was clearly so eager to try and speak to her again, which is why she thought that her plan was perfect.
“Lion? Can I talk to you?” Ravi whispered.
Gen just turned her back to him and started a conversation with Brooklyn.
This wasn’t the first time that Ravi had tried to speak to Gen whilst they were at the bar.
“Lion? Please. Please don’t ignore me. I just want to talk to you” Ravi pleaded.
“You can talk to me if you stop using that nickname” Gen snapped.
“Right. Sorry” Ravi decided to stop trying to get Gen to talk to him, he seemed to be making everything worse between the two of them.
“So Ravi, what do you do for work” Mason, Gen’s friend, asked as the night progressed.
“Oh, I’m a firefighter.” Ravi said, his face breaking out into a grin. He was clearly very proud of his job.
“And apparently a landlord” Gen mumbled, hunched over her 6th drink of the evening.
“Yep. I’m also a landlord” Ravi nodded.
As he spoke, he turned to face Gen and saw how out of it she looked. He had been keeping an eye on Gen all evening but hadn’t counted exactly how many drinks she had consumed. Apparently it was a lot.
“Hey!” Ravi leaned in closer to Gen, their faces inches apart.
“Hmm” was all Gen was able to say.
“Maybe you should go home” Ravi whispered softly.
“What? No! I’m just getting started” Gen slurred.
“Nope.” Ravis said, popping the ‘p’.
“I’m officially cutting you off. I don’t want you to get alcohol poisoning, even though you would be in the best hands” Ravi mumbled.
“Hey guys. I’m going to take Gen home, she’s had a lot to drink” Ravi announced to the table. Ravi took the nods from Gen’s friends as a silent approval to take Gen home.
“Nooooo I don’t wanna” Gen whined.
“Yessss” Ravi said, mimicking Gen’s tone.
“Come on. Up you get” Ravi said as he tugged on Gen’s arm, trying to get her to leave the booth they were sat in. She didn’t budge.
He pulled Gen’s arms up and placed his hands under her arms, lifting her out of her seat and throwing her, gently, over his shoulder. He gave a quick wave to his friends and started to make his way out of the bar.
“I’m going to call an UBER okay?” Ravi said as he placed Gen on the steps outside of the bar. Gen didn’t respond.
It took 11 minutes for the UBER to arrive, which Ravi thought was pretty reasonable considering it was 03:45 on a Friday night, or Saturday morning, depending on how you look at it. Getting Gen into the UBER was a hurdle that Ravi hadn’t anticipated. He was under the assumption that she was too drunk to realise that she was on her way home from the bar, oh how wrong he was.
“Okay Geni, the UBER is here” Ravi said, voice soft, calming. That seemed to wake Gen up from her drunken haze. Ravi started to get her up from where she was sitting but she immediately started kicking and screaming. Ravi pulled away quickly, taking a big step back so people around would know that he wasn’t trying to hurt her.
“Gen? Gen? What’s wrong?” Ravi’s voice was panicked.
“I don’t want to leave! You can’t make me!” Gen shouted.
“Gen, come on! Our UBER is here. Please! Just get in the car!” Ravi was practically begging for Gen to cooperate with him.
“Nooooo” Gen’s tone, high and childlike.
“Please! I’ll buy you food! Just please get in the car” Ravi’s hands gesturing towards the car. He was almost at his wits end.
“Okay?” Ravi said, voice hopeful.
Ravi was just glad that the UBER driver hadn’t driven off whilst he was trying to get Gen in the car.
They got half way to Gen’s, or I guess you could say Ravi’s, apartment building when Gen hit Ravi in the arm and said “What about my food?!”
“I’ll cook something for you” Ravi sighed, clearly having forgotten all about his promise of food.
“You can’t cook” Gen said bluntly.
“Oh yeah? Watch me” Ravi said, determination etched on his face.
When the UBER pulled up outside of Gen’s apartment building, Ravi rushed to pay the driver. Once he had done that, he threw the door open and ran to the other side of the car, the side that Gen was sitting on. He, slowly, opened the door and Gen would have fallen out of the car had she not still had her seatbelt on.
Ravi reached inside of the car and unbuckled Gen’s seatbelt. He looked up, moving the seatbelt away from Gen’s body, his face inches, if that, away from Gen’s. He was going to pull away, stepping back let Gen out of the car, when it happened. He felt a hand on the back of his neck, gripping his hair lightly. Gen’s hand. Her hand push his head forward. Before he knew what was happening, their lips collided softly.
Before he could even think about kissing her back, Gen pulled away.
“I think I’m going to be sick” Gen said, her face pale.
“Not in my car!” The UBER driver shouted.
Ravi pulled away as quickly as possible. He dragged Gen out of the car and pushed her towards the grass that was outside of her apartment building. She emptied her stomach onto the grass.
“Are you okay?” Ravi asked.
Gen just nodded. Ravi slowly started guiding Gen towards her apartment building.
