Itâs a really cool idea, to think that all that make-up on the âRumplurianâ characters was a practical effect (especially with animation what it is, these days). Among other things: it draws our attention to the real importance of make-up crew, costumiers, and the like, and makes us reconsider the actors themselves rather as a project, than as the protagonists of the story. Right or wrong?Â

Did the cast [in the story] ever make friends in life? Or were they merely professional? [I know what happens in 'Friendships and Fandoms'; but it's entirely based on Laceskin/Rumbelle, and anyway I'm asking this in the character of a viewer, who wouldn't have seen them off-camera].
Yes, the cast did become friends on the set, and some of those friendships remained very close over the years that followed after the series wrapped. David Nolan and Mary Margaret Blanchard had a case of art imitating life and became a couple whilst on the set, as did Graham Humbert and Emma Swan. Emma and David also become good friends to Rum Gold - David was best man at Goldâs wedding to make-up artist Belle French two years after the end of Star Force, and the trio keep in touch regularly despite the distance between them now.Â
Do you mean to post a few scripts of 'After Ever After', just as you did 'Star Force'? It promises a lot of fun.
I am writing the pilot episode of After Ever After, but Iâm torn between posting it out there for the world to see and keeping it to myself with a view to actually trying to get it on a screen somewhereâŚÂ
It takes a lot of work to keep the Aurora Borealis crew looking shipshape, and it is the hard work and creative flare of celebrated costume designer Eudora James (whose daughter, Tiana, is head of craft services at Storybrooke Studios), and wardrobe assistants Ashley Boyd and Dorothy Gale.Â

âAnd in other romantic news, it appears that now that Rum Gold is back in the country, heâs wasted no time in making up for lost time with girlfriend Belle French, chief make-up artist for Star Force. The pair, who were first seen together at the San Diego Comic-Con earlier in the year were spotted in one of Storybrookeâs less salubrious hangouts, the Rabbit Hole, both seeming to be in good spirits as they played pool, shared a bottle of wine and finally shared a kiss on the doorstep before leaving. Rumours are also rife that it was Zelena Westâs last day filming on the Star Force set, only a few days into the filming of the finale, and tongues are already wagging about the news. Rumâs relationship with his fellow brit co-star has always been a tumultuous one. Perhaps this impromptu date was a celebration of her departure?â
Iâve not been writing a lot recently but I have had a veritable production line of plushies going on, itâs been crazy!Â
Today I sewed up, stuffed, and embroidered faces on six plushies.Â
As you can see my workspace is a little bit⌠chaotic.Â
Also a sneak preview of the Stiltskin plushie!
(There were more photos of the process but I realised Iâd left my bank statement on the table and whilst I love you all, Iâm not ready to share my cash with you yetâŚ)
As Star Force comes to an end, itâs time for everyone to think about what comes next. For most of us, this is just a case of finding something else to fill those Friday night viewing schedules, but for the actors, itâs a little more complicated. With speculation rife about Rum Goldâs possible participation in Cara Malloryâs new Sense and Sensibility film, we thought weâd gather a round-up of the main castâs upcoming projects.Â
Billy Mouse is the first of the Star Force cast to be announced for After Ever After in a guest role for three episodes as King Philip, yes, the same prince of Sleeping Beauty fame.Â
Given the recent announcement that his wife Gwen is five months pregnant, itâs no surprise that Lance Camelot revealed on Twitter that heâs not planning any major commitments for the next year or so, as heâs probably going to have more than enough to keep him occupied at home! All the same, he hasnât ruled out guest spots in series or films that donât require him to travel.Â
Mary Margaret Blanchard and David Nolan are co-starring once more. A pilot episode for a show entitled Supers has just been announced, and although little is known about it apart from the fact it involves superheroes, weâre super-excited about it, and Blanchard tweeted her glee at being able to play a villain for the first time in her career.Â
Zelena West  has landed her first film role in her native London in the upcoming drama The Many Shades of Brown, playing a young woman determined to achieve her dream of becoming an interior designer despite her severe colour-blindness. She also recently announced her intention to write a tell-all memoir chronicling her time on the Star Force set, full of scandalous gossip about our favourite stars...
Tina Bell is heading off to Scandinavia as the latest actor to join the cast of critically acclaimed live-action/CGI mashup sci-fi series The Sixth World. Sheâll be providing voice and motion-capture work for a new character to be introduced partway through the showâs second season. âIâm really excited about doing motion capture,â Bell said in a recent interview. âItâs always fascinating to watch how the little dots become a person on the screen, and it means I donât have to spend any time in hair and make-up!â
Elsa Snow will be starring alongside her sister for the second time, returning to her home in Canada for a supporting role in Annaâs first major film. Sheâs confirmed that they will be playing sisters, and that hopefully the comedic fare will be easier to work with than their last time starring together in The Snow Queen. A title and synopsis are expected next month.Â
As for the characters back on Force Base, Fae Blue is returning to her roots in horror, announced as part of the line-up for a new indie slasher flick to be released later this year, although whether as victim or villain remains to be seen. (Personally we think sheâs angling for a tenth on-screen death...)Â George King is set to make waves guest-starring in long-running political drama A House Divided, with the view to creating a new version of the show set in London for UK audiences that will tie in to A House Dividedâs continuity. Kingâs adopted son and his family live in England and he has previously expressed a wish to move there to be closer to them.Â
Finally, whilst Astrid Star has not announced any upcoming roles, we want to wish her warm congratulations on her engagement to Storybrooke Studios security officer Leroy Short. Perhaps a future in epic romances is around the corner?Â
Weâll keep you posted as we find out more!
[Mod Note: The Sixth World is a reference to an RPG campaign I play in... Thanks to @licieoic and @greeniestiltskinlove for your suggestions!]
After yesterdayâs casting announcement of the ensemble of heroes of Leo White and Aurelius Midasâ new venture After Ever After, weâre pleased to announced the antagonists whoâll be gracing our screens next year!
Read on for more, more, more!
Antagonist main cast, clockwise from top left:
Robin Locksley as LORD MORTIMER: Rising as the self-styled âLord Protectorâ of the former kingdom, he rules with an iron fist, determined to stamp out the influence of magic and crush the royal family.
Brienne Tarth as GRETEL: Never quite recovered from her ordeal in the gingerbread house, Gretel is the Lord Protectorâs Witchfinder General, as brutal and bloodthirsty as she is beautiful.Â
Ana Lucia Cortez as THE GHOST: Silent and deadly, the Ghost is Mortimerâs personal assassin, responsible for the deaths of King Philip and Queen Aurora. A master of disguise, she could be anywhere...
Lawrence Wargrave as CHAOS: With magic in such turmoil, Chaosâs demons are free to roam the lands, intent on returning the world to the darkness from whence it came. Naturally, Chaos has no interest in stopping the purge of magicians.Â
Shannon Rutherford as THE SUGAR PLUM FAIRY: Stripped of her wings and her wand by the fae sisterhood after dabbling in black magic, the Sugar Plum Fairy is out for revenge by any means necessary, including an alliance with Chaos to restore her powers.
Sidney Glass as THE SHADOW MAN: Intent on using his powers for dark and evil purposes, the Shadow Man serves whichever master pays the highest, and is loyal to only himself. [Mod note: Yes, he is based off Dr Facilier in the Princess and the Frog.]

After much speculation, some of the main cast of Aurelius Midas and Leo Whiteâs new fantasy drama After Ever After have been officially announced. Although rumours have been rife, the cast had previously been instructed to keep their parts under wraps until the ensemble of heroes was complete. Read on for more, more, more!
The king and queen are dead, assassinated as they slept, and the royal family is on the run. In the wake of the toppled monarchy, a grim dictatorship arises, intent on wiping out all traces of magic in the land. With magic in such disarray, demons and dragons run rampant and wars are fought on all sides.
In the shadows of this depressive time, a resistance arises, ready to take back their land from the hands of their oppressors and restore peace and magic to the realm.Â
Protagonist main cast, clockwise from top left:
Rob Stark as PINOCCHIO - Now a man with a family of his own, Pinocchio is spurred into action after the murder of his father Gepetto, and he will not stop until justice is served.
Sayid Jarrah as THE GENIE - Freed from his lamp but still possessed of immense power that he must keep hidden, the Genie uses his centuries of experience granting wishes to help the resistance in their aims.Â
Ingrid Andersen as THE DARK FAIRY - Once a villain responsible for the vanishing of the Princess Aurora, the Dark Fairy now works with the resistance to prevent her fae sisterhood from being wiped out.
Harry Kennedy as THE BEAST - Kept from aging by the lingering enchantments placed on his castle, the Beast is mourning the early death of his beauty, and inspired to rejoin the world by the terrible events occurring around him.
Tara Castle as TALIA - A peasant living with her grandmother in Pinocchioâs village, she is one of the first to join the resistance, but is there more to her than meets the eye?
Kate Austen as JACQUELINE - Daughter of the famed giant slayer Jack, Jacqueline struggles to live up to her fatherâs fame and heroism. Perhaps joining the resistance is her chance to break out from under his shadow.Â
Stay tuned for more news - specifically the villains!
Our first sneak preview at the exclusive line of Star Force plushies, available later this year! The first glimpses released are of everyoneâs favourite double act, Engineering Officer Walsh and his flying monkey Chistery!
The plushies measure between eight and fifteen centimetres in height and are hand-knitted and embroidered so no two are the same!
Keep your eyes peeled for more characters coming soon!
[Mod note: Chistery is not to scale but thatâs the absolute smallest I can make a plushie.]

Well, Rum Gold and Cara Mallory are back in Storybrooke. Phew! We were getting rather worried about whether they would be back in time to start shooting the series finale.Â
As for the reasons for the sudden departure of Dr Stiltskin, well... Cara recently revealed that she will be directing the new feature adaptation of Jane Austenâs Sense and Sensibility, and Merida Dunbroch, with whom the two were seen in London briefly last week, confirmed via Twitter that she will be playing Marianne. Could it be that weâll be seeing Rum Gold return to period drama soon?
Star Force TVâs Competition is Live!
This week saw the launch of Star Force TVâs exclusive competition offering one lucky contestant the chance to win a walk-on part in the series finale, a guided tour of the set, and lunch at the famous Grannyâs diner. More details can be found here.
Wizards and Dragons and Unicorns, oh my!
Without a doubt the biggest news of the week was Aurelius Midasâ announcement of his and Leo Whiteâs next TV project after Star Force.Â
The project is entitled After Ever After and takes a look at what happened in our favourite childhood fairy tales after the credits rolled and the protagonists rode off into the sunset.Â
âItâs not a rehash of fairy tales,â Midas told E!Online in an exclusive interview. âWeâre not going to be turning Disney tales on their heads or shoving fantasy characters into the âreal worldâ; thatâs been done already various times with varying degrees of success. Weâre looking at the next generation of wizards, dragonslayers, and princesses and weâre putting it into a darker, more high fantasy setting; taking it further away from the âreal worldâ if you will. August Booth, our visual effects supervisor from Star Force is already working on some incredibly realistic dragons and weâre very excited about where the project will go.
âWhilst Star Force airs after watershed it is still considered more family-friendly than our previous fare - now weâre going back to our roots. Fairy tales are something that remain with us throughout our lives and we donât stop being interested in them once we grow up - we just read them differently, and we want to know what happens next. After Ever After is an adult reading of classic tales, and we hope that our target audience will enjoy it.â
Star Force TV is excited to announce a once in a lifetime opportunity for one lucky winner to have a walk-on part in the series finale of Star Force! Not only this, you will also get a tour of the set, guided by cast member Graham Hunter, and lunch at the famous Grannyâs diner, where there might be the opportunity to meet other cast and crew.Â
[Mod note: Youâll get a tumblr and âreal lifeâ cameo in Friendships and Fandoms in an upcoming chapter.]
