literally sleeping on a barbecue sauce
so this was surreal...you're being used as the header of a clickbait article on fb. i have the link if you want it for reporting reasons?
https://www.facebook.com/100094509493348/posts/pfbid0bZMbNQ18baFVcK6KUxhgNge36mmSNhT16tcgDy2utmeqNQgCFHGTLLYV6iv5xATMl/?mibextid=Nif5oz
Yeah, that happens. If you've got a blog that's popularly screenshotted on Facebook and Reddit, spam and clickbait will sometimes falsely attribute other people's posts to you in order to exploit the potential name recognition. There are all sorts of screenshotted posts floating around that are incorrectly attributed to this blog; the only unusual thing about this one is that it isn't even a Tumblr post that's being falsely attributed – they seem to have just glued a Tumblr post header to a screenshot from a different platform entirely!
Oh I recognized this story instantly – it's a fictional story that (to the best of my knowledge) was first posted on r/nosleep. So this screenshot does two of my least favorite things in the world of clickbait: misrepresenting a fictional story as real, then attributing it to the wrong person.
(In the interest of completeness and giving credit where it's due, the author is Blair Daniels (u/BlairDaniels on Reddit) and would almost certainly not appreciate any of this.)
my nephew, who is like 11 or 12, is playing “5D Chess With Multiverse Time Travel”, which is exactly what it says on the tin, and I have never been more terrified of the youth of today
here’s a sample picture from the Steam page:
what the hell is this

happy birthday, undertale ❤️🌼
I have, thankfully, missed most of the AI-related discourse on Tumblr. Mostly, I’ve been informed of it via other sources – the writing communities I’m in have discussed it a ton, though it usually feels like the same discussion over and over.
My feelings about commercial AI are... extremely complicated, to say the least. They cannot be summed up as “pro-AI” or “anti-AI.” I’m in favor of some uses of the technology, but not others. I’m also highly skeptical of some of the more overblown predictions about AI. (For an extreme example, see this post – the claim that AI may somehow be able to “create new forms of energy” genuinely made me laugh.)
I got tired of AI discussions in my writing communities. I think the constant catastrophizing started to get to me, not least because it often seemed to have so little to do with the actual capabilities of the technology. Like, more than one person admitted that they were getting their “information” from science fiction.

Shoutout to the person who when I was in my big cringey honestuck phase I called my Moirail for helping me decide who to draw today
I don't think this guy knows what an equation is.
I regret posting this because every time it gets a note I'm reminded of its existence.
I have one even more powerful for him:
E = mc² + AI * crypto
Imagine where we can get with Blockchain-based AIs!
BUT THEN YOU ADD KURT ANGLE TO THE MIX

wow pluto reclassification discourse is exhausting. here I thought doing a poll that highlights some of pluto's cool lesser known dwarf planet friends would put things in a context where it can't possibly go in that direction but nope a bunch people really do just hold a hard stance against a classification system entirely out of a sense of nostalgia
"the planets" aren't this exclusive club where all the astronomers' favorite celestial bodies go. the definitions used in astronomy are descriptive, they refer to the dynamics between objects and the properties they have. if you feel bad that pluto isn't considered a planet anymore and think it should be an honorary planet anyway, good news! that is literally the reason why the category "dwarf planet" was created. it's for things that don't have the same type of role in the dynamics of the solar system as the eight major planets, but are still physically a lot like little planets
>>"the planets" aren't this exclusive club where all the astronomers' favorite celestial bodies go.
that's exactly what they are, and my favourite rock deserves to be counted amongst them.
see what I'm talking about.
the set of celestial bodies the average astronomer thinks are cool is significantly larger than the nine planets you memorized in elementary school. if this were literally how it worked, there's no way the moon or europa or titan or ixion would have been excluded.
silly level catastrophic
