﹐﹢﹕☁️﹒marriage advice ─── how avatar aang and master katara keep their marriage alive after years of being together.
aang rarely gave his wife attitude or trouble. rarely in the sense that he never had before. the only time that it were to happen is if he had just came back from a long week of traveling or a particular rough meeting with the firelord and his people. the avatar and his wife had been married for ten years at this point. they had three kids together as well.
bumi was eight, kya was three and tenzin was only ten months. aang loved being married, loved his children. he was just stressed today, everything was out of wack in the fire nation. zuko had told him that there were still, after all these years, citizens loyal to his father. aang offered to speak to these loyalists and it was fine until those loyalists attacked him and the firelord.
aang made his way home to air temple island on his glider. appa was getting grumpy in his old age so aang only took appa if it was the whole family, which was rare these days. if it was just aang, he was fine with just his glider. he was greeted by his daughter throwing himself at his legs and he tried to pry her off so he could have her in his arms but she planted herself on his foot and wouldn’t move. so aang was forced to walk with a three year old attached to his leg.
“kya, please let go of your father. he’s exhausted after his long trip to see uncle zuko, i’m sure.” katara scolded her only daughter from where she was feeding tenzin, or at least trying to. usually he latched pretty quickly but now he would just move his face everywhere but katara’s breast. aang could tell that katara had been at this for a minute or two.
kya finally got off of her father’s leg and ran over to her big brother, tugging at him to set her on the kitchen counter, which he did or else, he would have to listen to her cry. katara smiled at her husband but aang was just too exhausted. he barely picked his hand up to wave at his wife, he saw the way katara’s brows knit together.
“sweetie?” katara called out as aang set his glider aside. as much as she wanted to, she couldn’t follow her husband since she had a baby attached to her breast. so she had to wait, instead. she just hated waiting.
“just give me a minute, katara, spirits.” kya and bumi exchanged looks but didn’t sat anything. katara knit her brows together and huffed. what in the world was his problem today? she shifted tenzin so he was right against her breast and finally, he latched. after minutes, she finally got him to eat. he was being very stubborn today, like his father.
that night, after dinner, aang was still giving katara attitude. he never gave her attitude. whenever bumi got upset or annoyed at katara, aang would tell him to “not speak to my wife like that.” katara, at this point, was panicking. this was because if aang had a problem, he would have came to her already. he hadn’t. so katara did what she did best.
after putting the kids to sleep, she stood outside of their house with her hands up to her face like binoculars. aang placed his hands behind his back and settled in next to his wife. “what are you doing, sweetie?”
“looking for who the fuck you think you’re giving attitude to because i know for a fact it isn’t me.”
