excuse moi for asking so impertinently, but… exactly how long is it until you abandon our father too?
- @stardeaths-lily
Huh??–
*He was about to say something but decided not to. He sighed.*
What reason would I have to do that?
well! do you gents really need a reason to leave my poor papaw alone?
Hm, you have a point I guess. I don't know why I would leave though.
*He casually shrugged.*
I care for his wellbeing, why would I abandon him? That wouldn't make sense of me to do if I care for him.
it’s exactly what everyone else did 🤭
you outsiders can be very crude to him, when he gives so much
So you're going to immediately assume my character just because of people that I have little to none correlation to?
*He cocked a bonebrow.*
oh, but you are correlated to them. you’re from out there, and and- and you’re all so utterly buffoonish as to treat my papaw like dirt! you think he’s so nice when you meet him, and then you put him up on a shelf where you’ll never talk to him again unless you- unless you just want to hurt him by stringing him along!
oh, you all infuriate me!
I would rather cut my hand off before I treat your father like dirt. I can "infuriate" you all you want but I'm not going to allow you to make assumptions about me, kid.
*He crossed his arms over his chest as I used a stern tone, the type of tone a parental figure would use while scolding their child for being rude.*
hmph… you’re only saying what our other “fathers” did. how is it my fault you’re all so predictable?
And I think monsters from in here are predictable airheads.
*He casually said while looking unbothered.*
wha- whatever do you mean?
Well you think outsiders are predictable jerks, so it's only fair for me to think people in here are predictable airheads, right? I'm just doing what your doing.
well, I- that just doesn’t make sense.
*she crosses her arms across her chest, letting out a ‘hmph’!*
we’ve never done anything to you.
Just like I've never done anything to you.
*He cleared his throat(?) before doing a mock posh impression.*
You're from in here. You're all so utterly buffoonish. You think outsiders are so mean, and then you end up being rude to them. Oh, you all infuriate me!
*He looks at you, speaking normally now.*
Sound familiar?
but… I don’t want my papaw to get hurt by strangers. he’s too nice and he won’t say no
*He was silent for moment before letting out a soft sigh.*
I know. I get how you feel. But you can't judge an entire category of people like that, even if it's out of fear it still comes off as mean-spirited. Truth be told, I used to do the same thing.
… I don’t get it. why is it mean? why am I mean?
*she seems distraught.*
if other people don’t care, why would I have to?
*He sighed as he tried to think of a response.*
Okay. So let's say, hypothetically, someone is trying to guess your favorite color and they say it's brown even if it isn't. And you try to tell them it isn't but they won't listen to you and they keep insisting brown is your favorite color because it's other people's favorite color. Wouldn't that feel a little discouraging? Just because some people don't care doesn't mean everyone doesn't care. Kind of like the hypothetical I gave you, just because some people like brown doesn't mean everyone likes brown.
*He hesitantly opened his arms for a hug.*
*her shoulders dropped disheartenedly.*
oh, I’m being belligerent
*she fidgets with her hands, picking at the finger tips.
… my apologies. but! I will have you know that brown can be a lovely shade - when used properly, that is…
*her gaze darts to the open arms, but turns away. the finger picking becomes more pronounced.*
*He closes his arms, getting the hint that you preferred not to. He chuckled.*
That's true, brown can look nice. Belligerent is a harsh way to put it, accurate, but harsh. I'd prefer to say narrow-minded.
*He watched you pick at your fingers.*
You should get gloves.
*she doesn’t look at him.*
gloves are a wonderful fashion accessory, I suppose
Sure, and they help with that habit of yours. Here.
*He slips off his gloves, revealing pointed phalanges and small scarred cuts littering one hand. He dusts off the gloves before holding them out to you.*
Hold onto mine in the meantime until you can get more "fashionable" ones. They shouldn't be too big, after all I am a 4'11 skeleton monster so it's not like my hands are that big. It seems stupid but they help with fidgeting more than you would think. Picking can become a slippery slope.
*she takes them gingerly, inspecting them. her phalanges up to her knuckles are rough and flaky, something hard to spot unless within a few feet of her. she puts them on, flexing her hands curiously.*
thank you. how are your bones so sharp?!
*she looks infinitely fascinated by this new discovery.*
*His hands slightly flinched back as she mentioned it. He held them to himself.*
I was just, uh, born like this.
*she let out a sharp breath, very reminiscent of Outer’s huffs.*
well, it’s utterly adorning on you and I’m quite envious! they’d be a wonder around a garden
