Favorite SSC scenes, in no particular order (12/?) — Rosaline joins Benvolio at the monastery ↳ So much happens in this very brief exchange, from Benvolio venting to Rosaline about his day, to the automatic gesture of adjusting Rosaline’s hood with such natural tenderness and domestic intimacy. And Rosaline’s pause after he does so, of being surprised by his action and her feelings about it, before continuing on with their mission, which Benvolio directly states he wanted to do alongside her and literally follows her lead.

Favorite SSC scenes, in no particular order (46/?) — Benvolio is berated by his uncle ↳ One of the only scenes where we get to see Benvolio with Romeo and Mercutio, there’s a real sense of friendship in the way they all interact, and a certain lightness to Benvolio that’s rarely shown. His mood immediately shifts with appearance of Lord Montague, and it’s the first time we see the toxic nature of their relationship. Benvolio, already predicting the verbal abuse he’s about to endure, stands his ground against his uncle’s words. We also get a look at Benvolio’s values towards betrothals and how he truly wants to marry for love.

Favorite SSC scenes, in no particular order (43/?) — Rosaline and Benvolio talking at the feast ↳ A brief encounter initiated by Benvolio, both of them are still at odds with each other yet manage to share insights and a potential scheme to dissolve their betrothal. The close proximity, hushed tones, and (albeit sarcastic) discussion about married life actually give us a glimpse at their eventual partnership and what, visually, they could be like as a happy couple forced to endure a royal event. And that last look between them just radiates true partnership.
