                      raja chortled.  She would WISH for a lifetime in which she could afford such a vehicle. Hers was just across the way, a worn Civic she had christened Lucy. Raja took a tentative step closer to her companion.  

              ❛  No, but someone in that convenience store has been giving you the eye - and as much as he looks like someone who deserves the inconvenience, I wouldn’t want you to get the short end of the stick.   ❜   Raja tucked her hands in her pockets. Now Ellie’s noticed him, too. He doesn’t look the type to pull a gun on someone, or even own one, but looks don’t tell everything. Not only that, but the woman is a witness - a very close witness, who could definitely pin her appearance by now. Maybe she should play it safe this time.

    “Good... Good lookin’ out. Thanks.”

Fifth period had rapidly descended onto Tony’s schedule, and it’s finally time to escape - he can only cut class so much when he’s still on campus. He lingers far too long at his locker, waiting for everyone to shuffle on to where they’re going, sticking his head deep into the recess of books and snack food. He stiffens slightly when a teacher saunters past, pretending to search for something. It’s a relief when the corridor empties - even better when he glances outward to see a familiar face at the end of the hall. She’s disappearing round the corner, though.

“—Psst. El. Ellie.”

   Rubber soles squeal as Ellie comes to a stop - mere feet away from the doors to freedom - and she throws a glance back. There’s no mistake that she’s glad to see her partner in crime, but she can’t let her guard down yet. Half-concealed, she lingers behind the corner and gestures for him to follow swiftly.

   “Hurry up.”

    “Not really. Things have been relatively quiet. But I’m always looking for new escorts if you’re interested. The money’s good.” 

   What the fuck.

    Well, that’s awkward.

    Ellie isn’t sure she should let go of the stolen goods just yet; she holds them a bit tighter, closer to herself in case she really needs to make a break for it. She’s two steps from her exit. There’s a chance.
