I went on a walk around Paris last time because I had a three hours break at work and felt like walking a little, stress-free and not caring about where I would go. I ended up really getting lost and walking around 7 kilometers in the time span of an hour, but I really got to see some corners of Paris I never thought I would see. Those corners that are so well hidden you never see a soul there - except from people that live there, you know. It was so interesting to see the city, my city, like this, from a new perspective. 

In these times of protestations and destruction with the gilets jaunes, I felt I really needed to reconnect with my town before it burned down before my very eyes. Things I knew came crashing down and I needed to recollect some pieces and make new memories of the city, some that no one could ever take away from me. 

Walking alone in Paris is fantastic - though people might look at you weirdly, wondering why you’ve got that huge smile on your face and taking picture of poles and buildings and murmuring “yes!” every time you get a good shot. I felt it was my time, truly. some me-time, me thinking about nothing and nobody else but myself. And I also needed that for my mental health - take a step back and breathe a little, clear up my head.

I ended up having my earplugs and putting some music I never heard before and they all inspired me in some kind of way, they were angry or sad, and they gave me this new vibe about Paris, as if it was the first time I came there and was a tourist wanting to act like a local. Which I might be, honestly. 

So this is Paris through my eyes, in black and white, and I hope this set of photographies is the first of many because I love my city.
