What would happen if I just randomly yell out ‘trust fall!’ to a classroom full of teenagers? Think they’ll catch me?

Ahh school. The where “No, don’t mix those chemicals together, you’ll blow up the classroom” can be heard from down the hall and no one blinks an eye. 

Those kids are gonna be the death of you, Layne.

I feel like if it was uncle sammy or stevie saying that to me, i’d have to say rude, but you i don’t wanna get grounded.

Oh, come on.. You act like I don’t drive you crazy on a regular basis. Family is love, but family is also constant irritation.

So am i the only one who is excited to go back to school? I’ve missed glee and the cherios the most.

In the most loving way possible, I’m also ready for you and your brother to go back to school.

“Oh, that’s not good.”

“I’m a not-currently-so-well walking disaster.”

Mooooom you will just make a mess with a bag of ice for your pride.

“Nah, I’ll just drown myself in it.”

“ouch, that sounds rough. just ice it and do the paperwork until it heals. oh, and elevate it.”

“I’m trying but it’s absolutely agonizing. So many papercuts, plus staring at a screen is one of my least favorite things.”

“That’s certainly not good. What happened, if you don’t mind my asking.”

“Tripped over a dog, tumbled down the stairs, busted the ankle and my pride. I was getting too cocky and the universe decided to take me down a peg.”

“Better to take it easy now than to make it worse. I have two boys and they never understood that concept.”

“You see, the logical mom part of me knows you’re right... But the dumbass Evans blood running through my veins says if I sit still for too long I’ll waste away.”

“I had knee surgery last year and the months of desk work nearly led to my early retirement.”

“It’s so annoying... I need action, or I get super restless. Injuries are for the birds.”

“I mean, death by paperwork has to be one of the worst ways to go.”

“Tell stories of your dear Aunt Stacey’s glory days. Before the paperwork got to me..”

“how’d that happen? if you don’t mind my asking.”

“Tripped over a dog and tumbled down some stairs. I felt like an actual idiot.”

“Ouch, that doesn’t sound good at all. What did you do to end up that way?”

“Embarrassingly enough, I tripped.”

Layne: couldn't help the laugh that escaped him; no matter what he was always able to relax around Stacey. "My hero. I see why you became a cop now." He grinned, looking at her. He couldn't stop looking at her. "Ah, yeah. As good as they can be, I guess." He shrugged, running a hand through his hair. "Just working, living life. The usual. What bout you? Years seem to be working in your favor."

“What happened?”

“I wish I could say it was done in a dramatic pursuit of a criminal, but the reality is one of the dogs from the K9 unit tripped me when I was heading down some stairs. Not sure who felt worse, Moose or his handler.”
