Gonna ramble about my own version of niffty's backstory. If something else has been revealed in season 2 I have not watched it yet. I'd argue the living world was niffty's hell. Being a mentally ill woman in the 1950s who had obsessive and stalker behaviors made life often miserable for her.
Her one dream was to get married and be the perfect wife. It's also what her parents wanted for her but as she grew up her odd behaviors and obsessive tendencies came to the surface.
She came off as an odd girl at best and a psycho at worst. She would get these crushes, get way too obsessed and then she'd have the cops called on her.
Her parents thought they loved her but as she grew into herself they did not like the person she was. They were ashamed of her and gave up on the idea of her settling down years ago. Her father figure it would be a miracle.
I think her demon form is a bug because those were the only friends she had growing up. Sometimes other girls would try to befriend her but her niffty ways would scare them off. Niffty unlike those around her never gave up hope. Even in hell she is still determined to fall in love and become the perfect housewife for them.
But she's unlucky in love. Finding those who want to take advantage of her, scaring off others in a short period of time or ending up in a toxic romance that she's into but ends up separating her from said partner or killing them accidentally. Niffty feels like a failure. A failure at love. She just wants to prove that she's worthy of love. That's why she keeps trying.

Baxter is stressing over niffty not wanting him because he's ace and sees himself as broken but sex never came to mind once she got feelings for him.
Him trying to explain to her that they can't be together because of this and she's like but I just wanna smooch you and cook you dinner.
Heās limping, in thoroughly bad physical pain from his run in with the radio demon. His lure hangs low and heās favouring his side, a hand around his chest as every breath in causes a piercing pain. Tears sting the little scientistās eyes as he tiredly slides down the wall, bunched up tightly and shaking.
He doesnāt want to stay at this hotel anymore.
Niffty had been making her rounds cleaning. Which was what landed her to see her precious almost boyfriend's injured state. "Baxter!" She screamed in alarm but she made sure her touch was gentle. "Who did this?! Let me nurse you back to health. I used to be a nurse you know."
Her precious almost boyfriend that unfortunately is quite frightened of her now. No, Niffty may not have done this, but Niffty blabbing to Alastor certainly had. And for what? He still didnāt understand what the fuck heād done wrong!
Baxter shuffled against the back of the wall, shaking even more. He couldnāt upset her. If he upset her sheād go to Alastor again. But if he told her to go away it would upset her. He didnāt know what to do!
āYour wretched radio demon, thatās who,ā he finally trembled out, trying to keep the tears and fury out of his voice.
This did upset her. At first normal sadness but then came rage. "That big meanie!" She said with a stomp of her foot. Not aware of how much she could be scaring him. "I told him how much I love you and he hurt you anyway! He's gonna pay!" She let her anger simmer for a moment. "I may have been upset but I would never ask him to do something like this. Not ever. But I can leave you alone. If you want."

"What? I told you I liked you." She giggled at his reaction. Just the kind she'd been hoping to get eventually. It was all worth it. "That's why I didn't want anyone else cooking for you. My fish." She made her point with another peck.
Had the woman had a nose in hell she would be sniffling right now. Instead tears were still in her eye and it was clear she was still in distress. "Okay." She nodded in agreement before closing her one eye. Holding out her even smaller hands to him.
He didn't like seeing her cry. It...twisted something unpleasant in him, and Baxter hoped that he could at least remedy that.
"Here..." He presented his gift to her, an old fashioned swimsuit. It was yellow with pink polkadots. A one piece that was probably less provocative than the kind she'd want to wear, but he was a gentleman of his time.
"You can...open your eyes now."
"Oh! Pretty!" She quickly snatched it and held it up to herself. She always loved polka dots. "Thank you baxter!" He was hugged close before she gave him a quick peck on the cheek.
He felt bad for making her cry...even if the reason she did cry was absolutely absurd, and not exactly something he could remedy with the promise and assurance she wanted, because he was going to eat other food besides hers!
...But Baxter still felt regretful he upset her, and hoped he could make her smile this way.
"I'm sorry I caused you any sort of upset," he told her, and he at least meant that. "Allow me to make it up to you. Just...close your eyes, okay? Hold out your hands."

Shown by her lip trembling before she spoke again. "Um what is that? And where did you get it from?" That better be some of her leftovers or she was gonna make such a scene.
"Oh, a meatloaf sounds nice, Niffty," he said absently, a pencil in his mouth as he sketched several findings into his tablet. He didn't see the lip that miserably trembled, so entranced in his work.
"It's some sashimi." Bought from the tower's cafeteria, actually. "I only have a few pieces left, but do you want some?"
Tears were welling in her one eye. She couldn't seem to blink fast enough for the stream of tears to stop. "No! I'm supposed to cook for you! Not whoever you got this from! Whoever gave this to you they're dead!" It was then she stomped her little foot. "Do you not like my food?"

She couldn't wait for the day he'd call her pretty. Though him calling her woman was just as good if not better. It was especially hot when he was mad. "Okay!" Like that she scattered away like the bug demon she was and returned in ten second flat fully dressed in the gear. "What kind of experiment are we doing?"
