Daphne isn’t romantically involved with Cedric, they have more of a toxic friendship thing going on. Daphne knows of Cedric’s schemes and doesn’t report them, but she doesn’t participate or interfere either. She has her own evil plans. She doesn’t take him seriously, like everyone else. Their relationship is similar to Cedric’s relationship with Greylock or Baileywick.
The dynamic Cedric has with Delancy is different, though. She does see him as an equal and treats him as such. Like Sofia, she does take him seriously and is aware of his potential. She knows of his schemes and doesn’t report them either, and has never tried to directly interfere. She wouldn’t say it out loud, but she cares about him a lot! More than a platonic friend should. But she has emotional issues she has to work out before she even tries to acknowledge those feelings,, she tries to avoid any emotions, as it’s only caused her pain in the past (edgy backstory)!1!!1!
A mother and daughter relationship is one I never considered, it’s definitely an interesting idea though! They’re just around the same age so it’d be hard to work out
I love OC x canon too!! I’ve just been struggling a lot with writing that kind of stuff, ESPECIALLY when I realized I subconsciously project a lot of myself into my ocs. I have this weird thing where I just dislike myself, and seeing a bit of myself in my ocs makes it hard to pair them with the characters I love so much because, A: they could do so much better and deserve to. And B: they probably wouldn’t even like the character (oc), since I can see myself in them and it feels selfish.
I’m not trying to fish for reassurance that’s just genuinely what goes on in my head! I know I’m taking it WAY too seriously, I know none of it is even real. I know I see and process things differently from ‘normal’ people, so this is all most likely just nonsense!
But I do plan to continue trying to make my oc x canon stuff anyways! Just have to learn how to shut that part of my thoughts off long enough to finish full drawings.

So You Want to Read Once Upon a Warden (But Know Nothing About Dragon Age)
First of all, hi. I love you. Thank you for even considering diving into my slightly (okay more than slightly) unhinged crossover of fairytale magic and dark fantasy trauma.
Second, I promise you do not need to know Dragon Age lore to enjoy this story.
But! If you’re someone who likes having a little extra context (or you just want to know what everyone is talking about when they say things like “the Blight” with the emotional weight of a thousand tragedies), this guide is for you.
So, The Very Basics of it All:
Once Upon a Warden is a crossover between Sofia the First and the world of Dragon Age.
Just think:
-Enchancia = bright, magical, fairytale logic and everything you love about Disney
-Thedas (Dragon Age world) = magic is real but everyone is stressed about it all the time. Also there's dragons.
Magic exists in Thedas, but it’s heavily controlled and feared. There are monsters. There are copious amounts of religious and other kinds of trauma. There are also found families and people trying their best.
Our Hero
Evaline Surana
-A mage (that’s what they call sorcerers in Thedas)
-An elf (think Lord of the Rings brand. Not Christmas brand.)
-Grew up in a system where mages are locked away “for everyone’s safety”
-Became the Hero of Ferelden by stopping a literal apocalypse
-Carries something called the Taint (we’ll get there)
She’s your main POV into the Dragon Age side of things. In many ways she’s an OC, but she’s also canon-sort-of. She’s my customized Main Character for the first game in the series and I love everything about her.

I LOVE THIS KIND OF STUFF!! I don’t know anything about Dragon Age but I was still able to follow Once Upon a Warden while reading it. Though I also definitely love learning about other media and I love having extra context like this!
