Loving the idea you’ve formed of someone is harder than loving them for who they are. You have a perfect image of them in your head and even thinking about seeing them in a different way is hard. Yet, you continue to keep up the perfect image so that you never have to see the side of them that you don’t enjoy. The idea is easier to love and harder to let go even when you need to.

100% agree. I thought I was in love with someone for so long but then realized I was just in love with the idea I had of who they were.

being in love with your best friend is an absolutely heartbreaking situation especially when they don’t love you back. you have to remain with your head held high and your feelings locked up bc you can’t bear the thought of losing someone you love so much due to your disgustingly overactive heart.

you know when like…no one really knows you because you work really hard to keep components of yourself (some might say even all of yourself) completely hidden from people and so even people closest to you that’ve “known” you for years probably don’t actually know you as much as they think they do? and then you feel like a sense of disconnection, like that realization that no one really knows you–not your friends, family, boyfriend, girlfriend etc–and you’re kind of completely alone and you’re unsettled by it…but not enough to actually let people get to know you, because having people not know you at all is a big part of your identity now and it’s impossible to give that up?
