its as if yesterday we were in 8th grade and i was infront of the class reciting my poem about flowers and growth. for some reason, my gaze kept drifting to you, sitting in the corner near the book shelf. its like my eyes knew better than my mind at the time, like they knew i’d grow with you. you’re like the stem to my petals, youre what held me together, youre what’s important to me. but in reality, you are your own flower, petals and all. you bloom as a lilac in its brightest days, you bloom as a dahlia with its broad colors resembling your expansive mind. like flowers grow, i know you will too. we’re seniors, soon off to college, and i know youll take up any opportunity to improve. i hope you meet people who understand the depth of your alluring mind, and of course, people who youll have the most fun with. im so greatful i got the chance to know you, ive truly never met anyone else like you. i intend to stay close to you and continue to grow with you. ill be there to listen to your rants, discoveries, goals and efforts. i plan to be there to support all of it. i love you as youre my best friend, and i wish you a very happy birthday.
