âYou are probably correct. I think most of the budget probably went into this charm, but at least they had the good sense to splurge on the alcohol too. I couldnât stand it if we were stuck on beer and house wine instead.â She pulled a face at the idea. Sheâd be lost without her espresso martinis.Â
âReally? Iâm surprised I donât recognise you then. Even with this charm I should surely remember such a handsome face,â she said with lighthearted intent. It never hurt to compliment others. âOnly a little while. It made me happy when I found it so I decided to wear it. Though Iâve almost twisted my ankle twice already. I should have worn more sensible shoes and not these⌠stilts.â
âThat would have been a tragedyâ Hades told the unicorn with a shake of his head, âIf I couldnât get a good whiskey I think I would have left hours agoâ. That was true as he sipped on his third one of the evening, it seemed they had decent brands of alcohol and that made this whole thing a lot more bearable. âDo you need a new drink?â he asked noticing her empty hand, âWhat would you like? Iâll go get you oneâ.
Hades couldnât help but laugh at her compliment, if only she knew who was behind this charm then she might have been surprised. âI could say the same for you, though I guess weâll have to see at midnight who we really areâ he shrugged with a smirk, âIf itâs any consolation those stilts look very nice. Though I donât think theyâre worth twisting your ankle overâ he chuckled, âMy-â the word seemed to get caught in his throat, âFriend, I canât remember her name-thatâs odd, she wears heels like that most of the timeâ it must have been part of the charm, shaking his head Hades turned his thoughts back on the petite brunette in front of him âI do think they bring the costume up a few knotsâ
