Yes. It's wild that this is even controversial. There are thousands of ways to express non-romantic love that are way more interesting and better suited to showing off the unique characteristics of a story. Kissing: played out. Piercing each other's ears and wearing matching accessories: an improvement. Not moving in together, but getting apartments right next door to each other so you are lifelong neighbours: beautiful, vast, deeper than any ocean.
