He has the Will of Dโฆ which btw Oda that name is really sus like hello. Especially for a respectable catholic man. Ignore that heโs always tits out thatโs still respectable and catholic donโt worry about it
I debated giving them their light world designs just to be silly but considering over half of them are Darkners I think it woulda felt a bit disjointed. Maybe later tho if I have the time!

Help I'm so indecisive about his design for my au. Though I've found that working on the design with pencils kinda comes a lot easier for me! It's not ideal for quickly comparing small changes, but I'm better at finding nice forms.

i've been thinking about the idea of a trigun/one piece crossover for ages, i'm so glad i stumbled across this blog!!!
i never thought about cora and vash interacting, but they really would have an incredible dynamic.
if you don't mind me asking; with the knowledge you have of trigun so far, what kind of interactions would you like to see with vash and cora?
todayiswoofwoofdaytodayiswoofwoofdaytodayiswoofwoofday [โso excited to watch ep9]
Right! The crossover! If you need to satiate your desire for one while I fight my way through the show, my dear friend @solena2 is already writing an amazing one where Vash & Wolfwood (and maybe the insurance girls) get isekai'd to the One Piece world!!!
Sol has also been helping me figure out some stuff with the Cora Crossover (title pending), both with the initial prompt and a bit of logistics!
When it comes to Vash & Cora, the main bit of their dynamic I'm excited to explore is the way they're The Same Guy but Opposite Flavors. Blonde gunslingers with brother issues <3 But where Vash is a pacifist, Cora resorts to violence as a first instinct. Where Vash is energy & loudness, Cora is nothingness & silence.
I love poking at characters through an eldritch lense, something I do extensively with my Parting Tides HC version of Cora! So learning that Vash is eldritch in what seems to be the exact opposite way? Now THAT is gonna lead to some fun!
Basically two feral cats I am dropping in a room together ๐ They'll figure out how to get along eventually~
Aside from character interactions, most of the Cora Crossover is probably gonna be me using Cora as an excuse to explore the worldbuilding of it all lmao, but his dynamic with Vash will definitely be a big part of it! Perhaps even a polycule with Wolfsbane/Vashwood, I'm not opposed despite my NobleHearts shenanigans ๐๐๐๐
I just want these two to stare at a twisted mirror image of themselves :]
Thanks for the excellent Ask! Glad to see there's other people out there interested in crossing these universes, and in my Cora obsessed shenanigans! (เฅโขแดโขเฅโ)
omg, wait, i read sol's fic!!! i enjoyed it so far. i should read it again, i think.
i never thought about how similar cora and vash are, but now that i think about it they really do mirror each other..
eldritch lense ๐ฃ๐ฃ๐ฃ
(hope you don't mind me adding my own long winded thoughts below)
i don't think you've read the manga, so i'll avoid getting into that but there are a lot of aspects in there that i think would go so hard in this crossover. i have vash bias, as trigun is my favorite anime/manga, but cora has always been an incredibly fascinating character to me.
i feel like their dynamic - at the beginning, at least - would be the most interesting. despite how wild each of their worlds are, neither of them have met someone like this. someone so similar yet different. and not just in personality, but in ability. they're both used to casually observing in a way that the other person naturally opposes.
i don't know as much about cora, since i never analyzed him (i should do that..) and its been a while since i saw that arc, but he feels like the kind of person who needs to understand, in a way. he needs to know the people around him to understand risks, weaknesses, and information. vash is something i don't think he can understand. everything about vash seems to contradict itself and its never clear how much he actually knows.
with vash, he's the kind of person who needs to be aware of everything around him. the not-observation-haki as you put it. he keeps an eye on similar things - risks, weaknesses, and information - but applies it differently. less about what they could do eventually and more about what they'll do in the moment. cora is a very silent (literally) character who's used to slipping into the background. he's the kind of guy who would appear mid conversation except it turns out he's been there the whole time.
this aspect would put both of them on edge so fast, i think. these forms of observation are what they've used to survive and having someone just throw all that to the wind would be jarring.
i think vash's personality would be something cora doesn't quite know what to do with. i see both cora and vash as people who don't see much value in themselves as people, but in what they can do for others (cora for law and vash for humanity). but vash is someone who truly, genuinely believes in the potential to be a good person. vash would interact with cora like he does with everyone, despite his wariness. he would look cora in the eyes and say "you're a good person" not as a compliment but as a genuine fact. i know you haven't met wolfwood yet but he was mentioned in the initial prompt so i'll just say the similarities between his dynamic with vash and coras potential dynamic with vash are crazy to me.
to add to that, i think cora's personality would hit too close to home for vash. i don't see this talked about much in the trigun fandom, and you've seen bits of this (you'll see more of it later in the show), but vash has a temper. he doesn't resort to violence, but sometimes it seems like he wants to. sometimes he diverts this anger to something more productive, like with the nebraska family when he refused to say a word but pulled those women out of the rubble. and sometimes he hides it under other emotion, like the episode with schezar when vash dodged the bullet and suddenly his tone shifted to something silly and dumb. (he tends to hide his anger behind his glasses which feels like symbolism to me idk.)
so i think cora, despite not being a pacifist, is still very similar to vash in that aspect and vash wouldn't know what to do with that. he can argue all day about how quick cora is to violence, but there will always be a part of him that relates.
i love that this cora crossover seems to be cora ending up in trigun. most crossovers i rotate in my head are the other way around XD
i kind of yapped about nothing, but i like this concept a lot. hope you don't mind if i comment on some of your liveblog posts :D
I'm always down for other people's long winded thoughts! Especially about my projects!!! ๐๐๐
I have yet to touch the manga, I'm going into 98 almost completely blind aside from a few minor spoilers I've stumbled into! I do plan to read it once I'm done with 98 though :]
EXACTLYYYYYYY They're so The Same Guy but the way they exist in each other's ability to Observe repels like magnets!!!!!! Over on my main I go into more detail about what I believe is up with the Nagi-Nagi, but admittedly I haven't elaborated much lmao. It's eldritch as hell is all I'll say here!
I dissect Rosinante a lot since he's my favorite, and you're spot on! He's not very strong, so Information is his safety net. If he cannot Know something, he gets deeply on edge & defensive to the point of violence. His Observation Haki is cracked trust me I have so many HCs. But yes yes yes, Vash confuses the hell out of him & that's Unsettling!!!!!!!
Vash I don't know nearly as well yet, but I agree. Cora's perpetual Silence and ability to vanish in & out of conversations is deeply freaky to mr Always Knows What's Around Him over there ๐
They're both so traumatized and do not handle their coping mechanisms failing very well~
Cora & Wolfwood having the same dynamic with Vash is something Sol brought up too! I still don't know Wolfy very well, but I'll trust your guy's word on it!
Vash being Vash in general just make Rosinante uncomfortable. He's used to hiding behind layers and layers of masks, talking to someone who just States past all that and calls him "Good"? Horrifying. Rosinante does not view himself as a good person. He is better than Doflamingo, but that's it. He is no lesser evil than every other Celestial. He is selfish, broken, and cruel. Quick to lash out, quicker to run away. Cowardly. Dangerous. That's what he "knows" himself to be, so someone daring to say he Isn't that? Hissing. Hissing feral cat.
Vash absolutely has a temper, I've caught his moments of pausing & serious faces. He just refuses to be violent about it, which is very very fun & fascinating! Seeing someone so much like him who fully just Goes With his temper instead of fighting it? Upsetting. Very upsetting.
It is indeed Rosinante ending up in Trigun! Gets shot on Minion Island and then divine intervention warped into the middle of the desert the second nobody is watching <3 Poor man is so lost
ABSOLUTELY COMMENT ON MY STUFF I LOVED THIS RANT ABOUT EVERYTHING!!!!! I love interactions!!!!! I am constantly bored and impossible to annoy!!!!! And I wanna talk about this concept, there's not that many people who consider a crossover like this lmao
@solena2 Get over here and chew on this ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
you haven't seen vash's temper yet, trust me. that is all i will say on that particular matter
@squidling2005 your thoughts on how they'd feel about each other are spot-on tbh. cora's a spy, he feels most comfortable when he can read others but they can't read him back. vash being both too mysterious to properly appraise and perceptive enough to see cora's facade for what it is would have him on the back foot immediately and he would hate it. and yeah the parallels to vash's dynamic with wolfwood are insane
and the "too close to home" thing... yeah. very much so. exactly that.
and yeah seconding peanut it's definitely cool if you want to jump into... whatever we're doing. liveblogging but with a very loud peanut (heh) gallery? i comment on everything bc i'm the one who got peanut into the anime and it's fun to watch them watch it, but i don't have like. sole dominion over their reblogs lmao. more people to join me in drip-feeding them ominous hints while talking about how good the anime is is always better!
