Another scoff came from her, keeping them crossed despite her advice. Well, it’s not like she could cross them too tightly; the Limb Enhancers were a little too clunky for it.

From the corner of her eye she peeked at the little Diopside, her head turning just by a hair while she considered Black Star’s words further.

Heartrate? Muscles?? What??? Why would any of that be of relevance to even either of them?? Had this Crystal Gem been on Earth for so long that she had forgotten what they were truly made out of?? 

And that name-- the nickname-- what was the need for that?? Sure she had been called Squari before, but had she also forgotten such frivulous things were unnecessary in the end??

It just didn’t make any sense to Squaridot.

“We don’t have those,” she countered. “Not.. organic ones. We’re made of light, it’s not the same.”

Then again, she couldn’t say she was expert on the anatomy of organic life or their kind. And there was the fact that she was an Era II Gem, did that have any factor? Did the Gem beside her share any possible factors by being defective???

Immediately the Peridot slammed face first into his shield, her cheek smushing into it in a rather comical way.

Just as soon as she’d been block was she tossed outwards, falling back with a pained and frustrated grunt. She scrambled to her feet, charging toward him again albeit actually aiming for the shield this time. She pounded both fists on it as he spoke.

“LIAR!” she yelled, punching into the barrier. “Why should I believe anything you say, Crystal Blockhead!”

Mainly she meant he was lying about ever giving them back, but if he was entirely lying… what of her Limb Enhancers? Were they gone?? Thrown out or smashed into bits??? 

Or, oh Stars, what if they were given to the detached clod???

Logic returned to her mind, clouded from anger and aggression. What was she doing? She wouldn’t win the fight– she couldn’t win it, that wasn’t her purpose. She needed a way out.

Her punches slowed, her head turning around and upward. While she couldn’t see a visible exit at the moment, the tubes would be perfect to both get a better view and to get some distance.

She picked one out, and suddenly shoved Steven away before making a run for it.

steven let out a small ‘eep’ as the peridot hit his shield, wincing for her at the impact. oof – that wasn’t really going to make her like him, was it? he flinched as she pounded her fists onto the shield, making sure to enhance it so she wouldn’t accidentally break through if he lost focus on her. 

“ i’m not lying – why would i let you out of the bubble if i were lying? ”   he pointed out, flinching slightly.    “ squari – i’m not trying to hurt or trick you, i just want to talk, really, i do! i things are.. way better now than you could ever imagine! ”   he certainly couldn’t just drop the information that he was a DIAMOND on her. his diamond aura might help, of course, but it wasn’t something he felt completely comfortable using. 

“   wh- wait, no! ” steven turned as squaridot moved to run for the tubes, and he spun, throwing out his shield towards her legs in an effort to knock her off-balance. jeez, this really was de ja vu, wasn’t it? 

It was just as Squari had started to scramble her way up the base of the tube did she look back... coincidentally right when the shield was flying toward her. Her eye widened, and in her mind begged for herself to move-- dodge, deflect, run, anything! 

But she couldn’t; she was frozen right in place.

The shield slammed right into her legs, making her yelp with pain and fright. Her legs slipped from their footing, and it wasn’t long after that she slid back down and stumbled onto the ground.

Stars, did that make her feel so pathetic and weak at that moment. 

Glaring at the boy, she quickly crawled behind the tube, unsure whether to make herself smaller and tuck in or to stand tall and at the ready to continue fighting back.

“Why should I?! You destroyed my pod, captured me, destroyed my form and took away my Limb Enhancers, and made me your prisoner!!” the Technician shouted. “You probably only set me free to torment me further!”

Not trying to hurt or trick her? Just wanted to talk?? Everything was better?? What was he going on about??? Maybe she wasn’t entirely doubtful that he meant no harm but just how was THIS better?
