#my fanfic I'd say this one is self-explanatory (you can also go for more specific filtering with #fandom fanfic, or just head on over to AO3 directly)

Regarding writing, why I share my work, and why some works will be abandoned:
Crucially, I write for myself, but I share my work for comments/connection,
and if I don't get any, I'll just keep the story to myself going forward because, otherwise, it'll just make me sad.
So, if sharing my story decreases the level of joy it sparks for me, I will no longer post more of it.
Simple as that.
Like, I am not a content provider, and if I see that people subscribe, bookmark, and leave kudos* but can't be bothered to leave a comment, I lose the drive to share ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
*kudos is nice and all, and if it's just a single chapter fic, I can get something out of them (in theory but not really), but honestly, I don't really care about something that might as well be just a way for someone to mark which fics have been read already
also, I'll admit that I do have a kind of cursed relationship with Kudos because I don't care all that much about getting them, but if I get less than 1 per 10 hits, I feel bad (don't ask me how I translate that into multi-chapter fics; it's complicated and involves charts) 🙈😭
Please note: If the last published chapter of the fic you're interested in doesn't have a note explaining that I have abandoned said work, then there will be an update at some point

more or less me venting about fandom culture and sharing work
people annoy me so fucking much sometimes, like honestly, subscribing to a story without even leaving a kudos is really making me angry--I mean, at this point I know that most people are too lazy and too uncaring because they feel entitled to free work to leave a proper comment, or even just a nothing-comment like 'I liked this', but not even leaving a kudos is just a shitty thing to do. if you don't like the story, silently clicking away is obviously the way to go, but if you like a story enough to set up an alert for an update to the story, a kudos is really the bare fucking minimum
like, look at this
so far, three new subscriptions, a new bookmark--going by the timing, unrelated to the subscriptions--three kudos, all of them happened without any other change than to the hit count, and one comment that's not really even about the story since it's a simple 'I liked it' kind of comment, but at least this reader has enough interest to leave anything beyond an increasing hit count behind
note, that a comment counted doesn't mean it's a comment specifically on this chapter--I count interactions per time frame, so chapter 5, for example, shows every interaction within the week it was the latest chapter, so 4 comment threads doesn't mean chapter 5 got four comments, but that any comment left within this time frame was counted here
like, at least this is a comparatively small story because the ratios get even worse when it's more popular, but it's really bad enough, and it always makes me consider setting certain limits for myself when it comes to sharing fics
maybe I will really start doing that because sharing is really no fun when it turns out like this--I'm just not sure yet if I will make my minimum measurements for sharing a new chapter public or not... like, I don't want to force people into interacting, obviously, but I honestly can't deal with this kind of disregard either, so just keeping the rest of any multi chapter fic that doesn't meet the threshold to myself might really be the way to go since just posting without getting much in return is burning me out, and it steals the joy of writing the story in the first place. like, I was a lot happier with my finished fic before I shared any of it, and right now, I kind of regret sharing anything in the first place :/

the miracle gen is obviously in a league of its own, but every time I re-watch the show, I find myself thinking that Aomine is just insane, even with the ridiculous standards of the miracle gen applied
one of my favorite things in teen wolf is that no matter what happens, scott is still just a poor kid. he has super strength n super healing n he can take people’s pain away n become a true alpha through his own strength of will n win against hunters n alpha packs n the darach n survive theo killing him on those library steps but none of that saves him n his mom from poverty. he drives around on a dirt bike while his friends have cars n he’s the only one who has a job. melissa works night n day at the hospital n she has to beg the electric company to turn their electricity back on after they have shut it off since they r not able to pay. scott knows his mom sits down n makes a list every month to see how long it would take until they lose their house. it’s just like melissa said, u can save people’s lives but u cannot save them from life. even true alpha scott mccall cannot save himself from life
I think the way I look at Theo’s and Tara’s relationship is heavily colored by me being the big sister—like, it’s severely shifting my perspective, because if Theo had been the older sibling, I would’ve never even considered a sympathetic approach to him having a hand in his sister’s death(no matter his age or outside influences), but since he’s the younger sibling, I have a much easier(I can’t really turn it off, tbh) time viewing his actions within the context of a child agreeing to something, wanting something they have no chance to fully understand.
Because, the thing is, I have forgiven my younger sister a lot of things—not least among them her sincerely telling me to kms just a couple of months after my attempt to do just that as a teen—so I can’t help but stick to an interpretation that makes him more human than canon makes him out to be at that point in his development, and that’s also the reason I think he’s not encountering Tara when he’s underground but his own imagination of her—basically, a manifestation of guilt he always was able to shut out before, but can’t refuse once he’s trapped.
And, I don’t always stick with that in my fics because sometimes that doesn’t work, but that’s how I read what’s happening in the show.
Take a Bite out of Me—Feed the Monster in You(there is no monster in you) by Splitterregen
Chapter 6 is up, and old memories and habits have a tendency to come back if you lower your guard, but some things can't be helped.
“So, what kind of creed is it that you’re honoring by being here?”
“We protect those who cannot protect themselves.” Scott is steady again, calm, because this conviction lies at the very center of his being.
“I suppose that accounts for the unusual composition of your pack.” Crawford drags his gaze over the room, finding everyone not already seated at his table. “Humans and wolves always mix, but as far as I can tell, none of you are related. Most of yours is human—even a hunter I hold in high regard—but this kid”—he tilts his head toward Corey over at the bar—“and this one, too”—he indicates Theo with a tilt of his bottle—“are something else, something I’m not familiar with.”
“They are mine, and that’s all you need to know.”
“Easy there…” Argent is the very picture of composure, but everyone here is trained, so no one misses his posture shifting.
ratings etc. below the cut
Summary:
Post finale, dealing with the hunters leads to significant internal issues for Scott, and Theo tries to help, buuuuuuut he's one, very Theo about it, and two, there's not much that can be done without compromising what seems acceptable.
In short, conflict, pack dynamics, though only marginally, survival, musings about guilt, and consent issues all around, because the situation doesn't lend itself to clear lines.

I’m not a fan of ai, but I can accept that if someone chooses to use ai for their fics or their art, that is their choice. not something I agree with. but still not my business, and I will never condone harassment.
if anything, I think it’s better if these people feel comfortable enough to tag their stuff as ai, so that other people can avoid their works if they’re not comfortable with ai-generated contents.
that said, I think ai writers will stop tagging their stuff as ai entirely if people shame or harass them for it.
so now their stuff is still ai, just untagged, meaning there’s no way for others to know if it’s ai.
keep in mind that speculation, accusations and witch hunt harm genuine artists and writers as much as ai does, if not more.
so if you go to the “ai-generated” tag on ao3 just to harass people for using ai, just know that you’re not actually fighting against ai — you’re just being a bully and you’re also making people more wary of properly tagging their ai-generated works as such. so you’re just making sure they no longer tag their ai-generated stuff as ai. also you can be reported for harassment, and ao3 will not take your side. (whether or not you like it, ai-generated works are allowed on ao3, whereas harassment is not.)
the “ai-generated” tag on ao3 is there so people can either find or avoid works with ai (but in order for it to work, ai users must feel comfortable enough to be honest and tag their works properly, that won’t happen if people keep shaming and harassing them for it — the only thing harassment will do is make sure ai stuff go untagged, harassment doesn’t stop people from using ai).
the “ai-generated” tag is not there so that you can freely harass people with no consequences.
and make sure your comments are kind!!! “I love this so much!” and “this is amazing! I’m so excited for what happens next” are more likely to get your favorite fics updated than “when will we get the next chapter?”
me, whispering to the ao3 page of an author who wrote one life altering banger and nothing else: I hope your pillow is cool and your skin is clear and you find money in a forgotten jeans pocket
