It has been 2 months since my last update with you all and Iām here to tell you Iāve been practicing!Ā
I increased my stretching to 3-4 times a week and have noticed some slight gains in my progress.
Iāve stopped doing partner stretching (although I would prefer that).Ā
My forward splits are almost 100% flat! I have now started using blocks to practice over splits because Iāve read online that this is what will make your splits very flat and easier to slide into.
I am now spending equal amount of time on my middle splits as I am with my forward splits. I do 3 rounds of stretching (3-5 mins each time). By my third round of stretching, my middle splits are 80% flat. There is still some gap and Iāve started using blocks in frog pose to make my middle splits flat. I think itās working but wonāt know for another couple weeks.Ā
Before this year, Iāve spent little time on stretching my straddle / pancake stretch. Now I spending about 10 mins on this position. I learned the hard way that you can have middle splits but not your straddle stretch! They are completely different muscle groups. I wish I had know that sooner. This move feels the most uncomfortable to me and itās very painful. I canāt lay on the ground yet for more than 10 seconds after doing a serious long warm up!
