Okay so, I just noticed this:

In BOSAS Snow is convinced he loves Lucy Grey all the way through the book until it serves him to believe she's actually played him. At which point he loses his shit and tries (or potentially manages) to kill her.

In Mockingjay, Snow takes Peeta. The kind boy with the best intentions who "believes" he loves Katniss. And Hijacks his memories, making him believe the narrative that Katniss was using him the whole time and that he should kill her...

I'm starting a rumour that Snow's main gaol here isn't hurting Peeta or trying to weaponise him. I BET he sees himself in Peeta and is trying to "show him the truth" like he saw the "truth" about Lucy Grey. Letting him go once he's sure Peeta's "seen the light" is just an added bonus for him probably.
