“Ma… yu…? Your name is Mayu, right…?”

Sachiko had moved on, but the souls within Heavenly Host weren’t so lucky. Yuki became the new Girl in Red, and everything… just kept rolling on.

Nobody was freed: just those four who had barely managed to escape with their lives.

“…”

She looked at the other ghost, before looking down at her feet, and then back up.

“… This is it, huh?”

She looked up at the slightly older girl: she felt like a scared five year old, the presence of anyone even a little older than her that she recognized… it was comforting.

“… Eternity…?”

      That voice. It was vaguely familiar, just barely ringing on the       curve of a bell. That was the only way to know that this was an      acquaintance -- someone she had met, but didn't know intimately.     Her visage came gradually into sight, alarming Mayu of her pres-                                                 ence.

      ❝Yuka-chan...?❞ her voice echoed in a soft whisper. Yuka Mochida,         Satoshi Mochida's little sister, was a spirit? Had she died in        Heavenly Host, too? The thought that was clearly proven as truth         stung Mayu's ( now nonexistent ) heart, fully well knowing that,         had she, herself, still been alive, it would have brought her to                                            instant tears.

“M-Mayu, your collar’s askew!”

“Er…it seems like that at this angle. It’s unlike you to be sloppy, as I’m aware…”

Morishige’s voice trailed off, a tinge of guilt settling in place. Truly, he didn’t want to nitpick Mayu’s appearance, for he knew her to be sensitive in that regard. He spoke only because he cared, and that his keen eye for detail became offended when something was off. Mayu had grown used to this tendency of his, of course.

Still, that didn’t stop the guilt from flaring up. It only surfaced in Mayu’s case, preventing him from nitpicking more than he should have. In regards to anyone else, he cared little for restraining his sharp tongue,

Mayu was another story.

“My apologies, it was just a trick of the light. Looking closer, I realize I’m wrong for my cursory conclusion. Everything seems to be in order, Mayu…”

            ❝Oohwa-- really?❞ Concern soon masked her expression as she peered             down, slightly panicked. Granted, the mishap was minimal, to word it             kindly, but if Morishige had noticed, then something must be done about             it. It seemed impossible to come off as "perfect" for the lead perfectionist            of Kisaragi Academy, although Mayu tried her absolute hardest. Still,                              even she made minor mistakes from time to time...

            His retraction caused her to then glance up, her panic now faded into        nothingness. A thin layer of blush accompanied her sweet smile, a giggle following.
