Bonely rubbed his arms and stomped his feet vigorously, creasing the fabric of his pinstriped suit as he explored this latest snowy extension to the ruin tunnels. He’d never been one for the cold. That had been Sal’s forte, jumping in snow drifts and digging up snow cemeteries just for the heck of it.
“J-jeeze, who woulda known you could find a mountain so high it snowed inside the peak?” he shuddered and breathed into his chilled hands. “You better be havin’ the time of yer life down here Sal, because I swear this place is gonna be the death a’ me!”
Given a chance to think about it, Bonely figured Sal probably would’ve loved this place if he hadn’t been so mad at his pin-striped brother for getting them chased out of yet another town for doing magic. Again. That had been the whole cause of the fight that sent the two brothers on separate walks, with one ending up down a hole and the other going down after him.
Shaking his head, the man lifted his fedora and ran a hand through his raven hair. ‘I shoulda been more careful,’ he thought and turned when he heard a branch snap. ‘Uh oh.’
“Hullo?” he called out uncertainly. “Somebody there?”
She decides to reach out and grab his sleeve, tugging on it ever so slightly to grasp his attention. She pointed to her mouth with the other hand, indicating eat.
