A solitude of sea
A solitude of death, but these

That polar privacy
A soul admitted to itself–
Finite Infinity.

This is a perfect time to read the brilliant and unforgettable graphic novel(s) Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi, about growing up in Iran during and after the Iranian Revolution, and the rise of the oppressive theocracy that persists to this day.
Both graphic novels are available free online (Persepolis vol. 1, Persepolis vol. 2)
It also was adapted to a wonderful film (co-directed and co-written by the author) which is available to watch for free on Sundance Now (sign up for the free trial)
French-Iranian author and illustrator Marjane Satrapi, best known for the book and film “Persopolis”, has died of "sadness", members of her
This one hurt, her work had such a profound effect on my life, thoughts, and politics.
May her memory be a blessing

we are in a true love recession
Everything that exists leaves a shadow
Melancholy is the gathering of those shadows
Jana Sojka, Words & Essays
there's a special place in my heart for people who made an effort to be my friend regardless of how quiet or distant i can get at times
My aunt just shared a video with me of a guy lecturing and criticizing (very loudly) a church welcoming LGBTQ+ at a pride festival saying they're all going to hell, leading everyone else to hell.
She shared it because she knows...
Also, my mom was tagged in the video and she agreed and text shouted AMEN.
This is why I don't come out.
My family would hate me and believe I'm going to hell. I can't live like that. Is it painful that at nearly 40 years old I'm hiding who I am or rather not participating in real world dating because of this? Yeah. But it also hurts have my own mother tell me I'm bound for hell and that I disgust her. My dad never spoke up about it, but I know for sure he also feels the same way (very strongly).
Living a lonely life is how it has to be. I won't have a war with my family. I can't handle that. I've lived long enough believing God hated and/or was punishing me for various other reasons. I can't do this too, or go through that again.
I'm sorry. I can't help but feel I'm also a part of the problem.

It's raining and we're upset because that means we don't go to the park.
sometimes people experiencing psychosis and/or mania will come up to you on the street and talk in confusing or upsetting ways. your job is to either have a regular human-to-human conversation with that person or politely leave. your job is not to call 911. do not call 911. you might kill that person if you call 911.
I don't even have the energy to screenshot and respond to your tags- what the actual fuck is wrong with you? "the cops are scared and rightfully so" "mental health calls are the scariest for cops" OH so this isn't about the safety of psychotic & manic people this is about piggy feelings?
and no, actually, this is not USA specific and no, actually, people from other countries should not ignore this post. police violence and sanism weren't invented in the US and they are certainly not unique to here. if you (or anyone) thinks that this bullshit doesn't happen elsewhere then you are not listening.
cops r Some Guy with a Gun
do we want Some Guy with a Gun in this situation? answer is usually "NO"
