Any time a stage production gives Jack back his bandana and cowboy hat an angel gets its wings.
Itās odd they eliminate that heās also ācowboyā but keep Santa Fe. While I understand a nickname is easy to drop compared to a core part of the character it is another little change that interests me.
Sparked by seeing some production all pose and re-create the classic photos of the boys oh my god give them everything.

While itās true older period pieces werenāt this pillar of accuracy, there was aesthetic and color committed to.
At the very least from the 40s-60s even if there were modern elements their hair was up! They had hats! It mightāve been a beehive but at least her hair was pinned up š. Period pieces now are allergic to hats and theyāll shoot you if you donāt have Utah curls.
Rewatching Mary Poppins for the first time in years and now Iām pissed we didnāt get Cherry Tree lane in London/UK at Epcot. Even as just building facade and another little alleyway wouldāve been enough.
I know they were heavily basing it around the sequel (and its success) but oh my god, others said it before. But the idea of a sort of racing carousel type ride based after the chalk sequence wouldāve been amazingā¦. Racing carousels though rarer do existā¦ modify that to be a bit more dark ride-ish and it would be amazing. COME ONNN

Yeah, their ride idea itself was sort of lame. While I do get needing a people eater attraction, I think more couldāve been put into it.

Gaston is such an interesting figure, as heās so outwardly a brute but at the same time thoughtful in his outward social status. He has a good reputation, heās a masterful hunter, a local business owner (of the pub no less- a social center of the village he can center on himself) and quite handsome. He uses and abuses his reputation to the point most ignore or play off his callow nature. He provides and heās good looking who cares?
He also provides outward social niceties, despite how deeply deeply self centered the man is he still says things like āPlease let me through,ā in the opening number. I donāt know why but Iām spinning that in my mind. This is also why I like the addition of making him a captain in 2017ā itās another layer of reputation and good standing to use and hide behind.
Something something he does actual good in the community which allows for unchecked ego, villainy and abuse to go absolutely unchecked ā Iām lacking the proper way to describe it. Like heās not complex at all but at the same time there are layers to his standing.
Iām back and forth with the return of the heart beat bride in Disneyland, now that Iāve actually seen her in person. I think itās really cool, conceptually and close to being really ethereal and mysteriousā hearing her heart beat etc.
However she has the same problem as Disney worlds Hat box (I havenāt been back to see him) and theā¦ new pirateā¦ sheās slightly too loud and way too bright. They keep doing the mannequin + projection thing, sheās about 80% screen!!! + itās so half assed as the entire rest of the attic is all still Constance, just the husbandās disappear instead of lose their heads nowā¦
Multiple dead husbands and a tragic bride? Re-heating MĆ©lanieās Nachos š bring back the whole- died right before her true wedding or husband disappears thing idk.
She does make a GREAT shirt though, Iām sort of mad I didnāt get itā¦ like sheād be so cool if modern Disney wasnāt a screen addict and could f*king commit + think through if theyāre gonna change something.

I want whatever crack they put in the painted backgrounds and set pieces of 1960s Disney movies.
Something about old Disney and the nostalgia for the turn of the century, how it created something familar (though rose tinted) for those who could remember it while also leading to great story telling. How, their children and even so on to kids today ā especially todayā develop a nostalgia for a time they have never lived in and has never fully existed in the way so thoughtfully put in movies and the theme parks.
The Disney 1910s are something so damn powerful it still resonates even if itās not in the same way it was meant to. The stories still hit, a warmth is still there. Main Street U.S.A and carousel of progress hit so hard for this reasonā¦ itās nostalgia, itās teaching the past but itās also something brand new entirely. (This bleeds into the core theming of other lands as well)
I really hope ā against all logicā Disney understands this or hires someone who does. I am not one for a complete āmuseumā never touching anythingā¦ but itās that so many updates miss the actual point and heart at these old attractions or lands. Itās not that progress is evil itās the loss of ā heart for lack of a better way to put it.
