piéta, three block hand printed woodblock print on paper with oil paint and blood i made this for a trans art exhibition :3 heres a part of a little text that came w it: I believe the process of creating a piece is an important part of the piece itself and should be considered while looking at the final product. Woodcut printing with scavenged materials and without power tools, fancy knives or a printing press is a long and very physical process of cycling all over town looking for materials, hand sawing and sanding for hours, transferring images just on the right spot, carving and carving and carving, drawing blood, mixing paints and finally carefully printing and this reflects on the final product. I hope you think about this process as you look at the piece and try to find clues of the different phases of its making from its imperfections.
