this is a rewrite of something i couldn't ever find the time to post and considering the way everything is, i don't think i ever will. not that it's a bad thing. this exploration of tragedy and desire, it is good that you guys get to see the good things they go through.

Referencing "Pawny" in quotes; Its the nickname his friend Snoops gave him. Like Snoops, he initially introduces himself as "Pawny" to others in his first year at NRC. During his first year hes violent, but he has "changed." So he associates the name negatively now.

The whole butterfly references -- "Pawny" is the caterpillar and Hatton wants to be the butterfly, but he's not.

He calls out for his mom because his dad is the one that locks him in the room when he said he was gay. This is why the phantom sounds like his mother to him.

Hatton switches to Scottish Gaelic when stressed, but he doesnt switch here because the overblot is blocking his receptors from negative chemicals that induce stress. So he recognizes something is wrong but can't feel it until the end, and even then it's guilt. So, his last words "i'm sorry" is an apology in a language he never really wanted to speak

In the middle of the acceptance part, he is ignoring the phantom (body beginning to shut down) and he only converses with it in the end (as he is dying) and even then it's entirely apologies.

In this part, the larger words spell out "Deserve. Deserve. You deserve this death."

In this part, the largest word is "Pawny" which is at 13px, compared to other larger words in the phantom's font which are at 12px. Its the thing hatton was trying to get people to stop seeing him as, but it is the thing he dies as.

Its also the manifestation of his own feelings. that despite he wanted to not be Pawny, people will always see him like that. snoops, blair, his dorm mates, heket, etc.

Example: Here, from the NBC event, Hatton asks Snoops to call him Hatton and Snoops leaves him on read.
