“Yeah, probably,” As in she was probably bothered by it. The older of the pair nodded as she picked at a dried scab on her knee. “I’m Sun Laskin.” She continued to focus her attention on the dried crust of skin, refusing to make further eye contact. “You have a good name. Did your parents give it to you?”

"Yes, they did. My brother and I’s names are based on biblical figures. I had the feeling because we’re their first offsprings.” Lilith responded without moving from her position. She simply stared at her, watching her movements. “Your name is unusual. I only read in the books who have names after stars. Where did your parents get your name from?”

Had she upset him? He looked upset. “I just meant I didn’t think I would make a very good sister,” The six year old managed, lifting her hands in the air a little ways. “I don’t mind, you can call me big sister,” He wasn’t going to cry, was he? She didn’t know how to handle crying.

“Really? I can call you big sister?!?” His mood drastically changed hearing the girl’s sudden approval. Adam’s face brighten, eyes widened in gladness with matching of faint colour of red in his cheeks. It was full of joyful emotions building in him, thought of finally have someone to call big sister. Suddenly, he hugged to girl with his tiny arms. “Thank you! Thank you, big sister! You can call me Adam!” He said, with a huge grin on his face.

“I’m not sure i’d make a good big sister. You should probably find someone else,” Sun replied, blunt as ever and not quite understanding the honorific title herself. “…How do you know if I’m older than you?” Was it because she was taller?

Adam’s lip’s pouted, brows bent weakly; he was disheartened to the girl’s response. Nonetheless, he nodded to her question. “Yes. It’s so rare to see people here in the forest. That’s why I got excited when I saw you. I thought it would be okay to call you big sister. I can’t call Lilith big sister because she’s my twin sister.”

“Aren’t we children too?” Sun responded, a deadpan look still present on her features. “I don’t know if I’m troubled, but I don’t like it…probably.” Before meeting Loreto, she didn’t think any of her antisocial behavior had been a problem, but after constantly being barraged with ‘don’t you have any friends?’ and ‘brats like you should be more outgoing!’, she had started to question herself. 

“I don’t get it. Probably you said...” She looked back at her, puzzled at her response. Lilith thought adult were complicated people to read to begin with, but she was different. “So that means you’re actually bothered by it because it keeps going in to your mind, isn’t it? Uhm, I’m Lilith Lucifer by the way. May I know your name first?  We can’t just keep conversing like this without getting each other’s names.”

…Cool? That was the first time she had heard that from another kid around her age. “N-no, I saw you two from far away and overheard her say your name.” His excitement was almost…overwhelming, and she wasn’t quite sure what to do with herself. She opted for ducking behind her hair. “Um, you don’t have to call me onee-chan…”

 “Oh, forgive me. Did you mean not to call you onee-chan because it sounds different? Older sis is fine? Sorry, I just read the word from a book and gotten like to it. I’m kinda excited to use it because I don’t have an older sister to use that title.”

Sun plopped down a little ways away from Lilith and stared across the grassy hill they were seated. “I don’t get along well with other kids. They say I’m scary, but I don’t really get it. This old lady named Loreto started following me around recently. She said I’m off-putting since I don’t make many expressions.”

She stared at her for a couple a minute before opening her book again to resume the reading. “Children are selfish and loves making troubles with people. You should be thankful with that, less head aches will occur to you. It’s better to mingle with older ones since you learn more from them. Were you that really troubled after saying of your unpleasantly image?” 

This was…Lilith’s twin, right? They had never really spoken before, so why did he look so happy? “Um, you’re Adam?”

“You know me?” This fired up the boy’s spirit. He couldn’t help it but to get more excited upon meeting the older girl. “You look so cool, onee-chan! Did Lilith mention me to you?”

“Hm.” The six year old glanced at her tiny fingers and frowned. Loreto, her adoptive sister, had thought the same (thought mostly because she couldn’t shake the habit of calling her, ‘aunty’). “Is it because I look scary?” 

“Scary?” Puzzled at her question, the young blonde scrutinised the stranger from head to toe. “You look perfectly normal to me,” said her, closing the tome in her hand. “Don’t get me wrong. What I meant there is you look more normal than those ridiculous people from the city. What’s with the sudden question?”

“…Am I really that off putting?”

The voice halted Lilith from reading her book and turned to her side to look at the owner of the voice. “You are...”
