Self Insert was one I was excited about cause I had the idea to be a sort of Tanuki hehehe

Macaque ran like the wind, weaving through trees and bushes, gritting his teeth as branches scratched and thorns clung to his floor. He had spent his entire life knowing who he was and what he was for. He was made for it, groomed for it like a pig bred to win first prize at a fair. But he knew that his kits couldn't go through the same. Even if it ruined them, even if his own plans for them ruined their souls, even if he was guaranteeing his own spot down below...

His thoughts were interrupted by a shout, and the growls of animals. Not daring to turn back, even to take a teensy look at the chaos behind him, he ran on. He couldn't worry about what he had done, or how his arms hurt from carrying his kits, or how his legs ached. None of it mattered. Nothing mattered. Nothing except his kits.

It took everything in him to not laugh at his own thoughts. Scattered, only connected by a loose, holy string dirtied with blood and mischief. He had fallen so far so quickly. Or as his husband would say, he had been born damned. In fact, Macaque could hear practically hear him saying 'It was inevitable'.

Macaque frowned as he hid inside a bush, thankful that his kits were so quiet. Maybe this was inevitable, maybe it wasn't. Maybe he'd experience an injustice worse than the one he cruelly delivered to his husband. Maybe horrible things would happen to him in this land just like they said it would. Maybe—

Drawing Ao Lie in both his human (?) And horse form was a nightmare, animals are usually my least favorite thing to draw (and I still had a very difficult time figuring out what I was doing), but I'm proud of how it turned out! Also it's not important but I do hc Ao Lie as knowing how to play an Èrhú and I wanted an excuse to draw him playing one.

I wasn't entirely sure what to do with Tripitaka's outfit while I was drawing him so there isn't much detail, but I added some extra patterns while drawing his headshot (I used @/Chiptrillino's ATLA Air Nomad art as a mini reference for the pattern and beads), I would've gone back and added it to his full body piece if I hadn't already saved it as a jpeg. Sorry :)

I honestly think Peng's outfit is a bit boring compared to the others, I don't dislike it, but it's kinda hard to do much with they're body type since he's a bird demon.
