“It sure seemed like you were speaking to someone. Where are you going anyway?” 

"O-oh that wasn’t my intention. And MIT”

“Wait, you’re leaving? I didn’t even know about this,” Matt said, giving a look of surprise. He hardly knew Spencer, but it made him sad to see anyone leaving the school, especially with Spencer’s reputation for being really smart. “Where are you going off to?”

"Yeah, I got accepted at MIT”he says quietly, “And I couldn’t just pass it up”he says his voice quiet. 

Olive blinked, unaware that someone was talking to her. “Okay…bye? Like…what do you want me to say? Bon Voyage? Do you want a balloon?” 

"You don’t have to say anything, it was just a reflection.”

Bailey felt even more so surprised at this, worried for a second she had done something wrong. She gave Spencer a lot of nuisance sometimes, but she didn’t think he’d actually ever back out. “What? Why not? I- i think Carter and i would- would like, murder each other if he tutored me.” She tried for a half laugh, feeling awkward. She knitted her eyebrows together but nodded immediately, “Of course, is… Everything okay with you and Carter?”

"That wouldn't really happen would it?"he asks as he raises an eyebrow, "He's better at tis than I am, I'd want the better tutor if I were you"he tells her. He's nervous and he has no idea what to sa. "Everything's fine"he says, immediately regretting it Everything's not fine, he's leaving. "Actually, it's not"he says quietly as he takes a deep breath. "I'm leaving, I applied for this other school and I got in and I talked it over with my dad and I've decided to take it"he tells her his words fast and sort of gumbled. He's nervous for her reaction, but he just hopes it doesn't involve her eating him like she threatened before.

"I don’t know," Carter said quietly and looked down at his lap. He had no clue what he wanted to happen. If he stayed with Spencer then it would only last two more weeks and if he left him then it might be a bit easier to watch him leave. "Having you for a few more days or weeks is a lot better than not having you at all." The brunette needed that hug. He needed so much more but he really did need that hug. He hugged Spencer back tightly and buried his face in the other boys shoulder. 

Bailey furrowed her eyebrows in confusion at his laugh. Usually he’d roll his eyes or sigh long sufferingly at her, but for once… Something seemed off. “Is everything okay, Spencer?” She asked, leaning over to touch his forehead as she had seen other humans do when they were concerned, although she didn’t really understand why. “Are you sure? I… Thanks.” She added, flattered, sitting back into her seat, still confused and now feeling a warmth in her chest. “That’s really nice of you to say. I… I’m sure it’s not true, but.. Thank you.”

"Well actually, I won't be able to tutor you anymore"he explains his gaze falling to the floor. "I'm sure Carter will though"he adds. He bites his lip as he debates telling her, and finally he looks up. "Can I talk to you about something?"he asks her. "It's sort of important and I haven't really told anyone"he says quietly.
