Beginning: The war began when Germany invaded Poland, although this wasn’t the official start of the war, the official start to this war was when Great Britain and France declared war on Germany. Prior to invading Poland, Germany first took over Austria and Czechoslovakia. The began on September 1st 1939, and ended on September 2nd 1945.
