one of my favorite aspects of Ego Renegade Boy is the way that, yes, while it does encapsulate an experience that many many MANY trans people go through, it's also very much about transmasculinity specifically
the way the "poor daughter/sister/mother/etc" who has been "mutilated" is dehumanized, the way everyone only mourns the concept of len being "their daughter" and very blatantly hates len far more than they ever cared about rin, the way people portray transmascs/men as inherently more aggressive than they were before coming out due solely to masculinity, the way the concept of transmascs/men being brutally executed is treated lightly, almost as a joke, the way len has seemingly snapped out of the restraints he was put into as rin and is openly snarky and sarcastic, it's all so wonderful to see! transmasculinity is so often erased from the picture, both in and out of the trans community, and it's rare you see a piece of media so openly about transmascs specifically
anyone can and SHOULD relate the song, of course, especially otherwise trans people, I'd never want to deny someone that. but the fact that Ego Renegade Boy knows exactly what story it's trying to tell and, most importantly, isn't afraid to be about that story specifically, is so so so important. i never thought I'd ever see a song so elegantly and dare i say masterfully cover transandrophobia and transmasc triumph without pulling any punches but, hell, how could i ever doubt Flavor Foley? this song is so important to me can you tell
