Genuinely surprised to see this from Jamie p and super glad as well. I feel like it's become such a pattern of seeing white queer creators casually say some racist shit or something to come out and then never properly apologize.
So seeing Jamie Paige be outright "No fuck y'all stupid racist white teens, she'd rather stop making music catering to you than let you make a fool of her art" is incredibly refreshing and makes me glad that to be a fan of hers and feel both seen and comfortably safe knowing that for once someone has the decency not to be a racist piece of shit!
Also go listen to Slayr right now! I remember hearing a couple of his songs before, and liking all of them, and this one is no different. Honestly I hope we get to see more hip-hop sampling and remixes of vocaloid music because its so so cool and wish it was done more often.

A bit more self explanatory, but I'm glad he's confident to state it for the people in the back that Vocaloid isn't just a white people thing. It's a bit bittersweet to me in a sense that a lot of black creators online feel the need to hide themselves, but I definitely understand (I'm guilty of this sometime too the way Tumblr acts sometimes) but I'm glad to see that people are being more openly anti racist for once and I hope this trend doesn't stop.
Also I know it's already his most popular song, but it is such a banger too, go listen to this and the rest of his vocaloid music too!

i do not want to live in the fucking panopticon fuck the camera that blinks above me at work, the tv watching me at the store, the "smile you're on camera" signs, the ring cameras, the flock cameras, the apps to track your child or partner, the activist friends telling me "just assume everything you do in public is being recorded somewhere", the government building protester databases, the teslas recording every move all around them, the knowledge that everything i type or search or save is being tracked and logged, the ads and search suggestions that mysteriously know what i was just talking about, the way biometrics keep creeping into more places, the way my car spies on me, the way my phone spies on me, the way there is nowhere to go to get away from it!!! no wonder the internet is full of vindictive little stalkers and witchhunts when it's the water and the air of society from the culture to the infrastructure
okay i just saw a post about reimagining hanahaki and now i desperately need to. play with the idea of hanahaki in contexts that are anything but romantic. this has also in the back of my mind made me want to continue homestuck. incredibly sick and twisted situation
okay well ignoring the homestuck bit of this it seems ppl are interested #yay.
my initial thought as like the most platonic lover aroace of all time was. of well you guessed it hanahaki incited due to strong platonic love. i think even if you chained yourself to the word love when it comes to hanahaki theres still so much play and fun to be had. how does one define love. what type of love. intensity of love. etc etc. concept of developing hanahaki for a family member? maybe you've lost contact or who is dying? the flowers are more a manifestation of your feelings of care toward them than out of a rejection of romantic love.
you could also step back from the idea its born of love entirely. i think the main aspects of hanahaki are the intensity and the rejection / fear / negativity which resulted in the flowers. if you leant into the first bit and let go of love, you could push it into hate and dislike. a manifestation of that strong negativity to another person (which is why i referenced homestuck in the og post. those who know).
another interesting point of this is you could focus on the why and how of it over the person and feelings attached to them. are you developing hanahaki due to a friendship breakup or is it because you have a deep rooted secret youre not sharing? maybe its because you feel yourself wanting AWAY from that friendship. it doesnt have to be simply born from the fear of rejection or seperation
obviously you could have some fun with codependant or obsessive nature's that arent entirely romantically based. idk theres just so much to do with the base of hanahaki.
you could even stretch it out of the realms of feelings for another. it could be a bodily reaction to an event or a place or a memory..
emotion for another person(s) (or event? thing?) + intense + negative fear/worry/issue -> flowers -> death.
and then you have the resolution. because its not a cut and dry they love me/love me not, how do the flowers disperse? how does one get rid of them? would the surgical end result in a complete loss of feelings? how would that affect somethinf like a familial relationship? a parent and a child, even? much to think about.....
