Spartacus Reinterpreted

This blog will remain up for as long as possible, but just in case, I do recommend following the others if you are very attached to these beautiful but terrible jokes. As long as this tumblr’s up, if you are unable to send a submission/suggestion to either of those places, you can try here. As I said before, I don’t agree with the new policy, but I will follow it and I feel Spartacus is just a family friendly show at all.

I have started transferring things over to spartacus reinterpreted’s dreamwidth and it also has its own AO3 work. The AO3 one will be a bit behind for a while since I’m trying to just upload as many as possible. I have all the ones that have been flagged in addition to one that I actually consider NSFW and was not flagged. Next to be imported will be the submissions, since I have no copies of those images saved. After that I will be posting the last few ones and buckling down and transferring everything. I’m honestly worried about being taken down period since this is a secondary blog and while my primary blog isn’t nsfw and I’ve taken everything down that I tagged, I’ve got 21k posts and no time to go through all of them.

But first I need a break to do some fun things. It’s been work, appointment, and then transferring stuff all day.

In case things tumblrs get taken down prematurely, I went ahead and made the dreamwidth for Spartacus Reinterpreted. And I’m going to figure out how to post it to my AO3 as well.

Thank you for all the laughs and posts and fics, and being such a gift to the fandom. Hopefully Tumblr realizes the error of its ways and this will all be settled, but if not, could you not migrate/continue your Reinterpreted posts at AO3 in the future?

I can move them to dreamwidth and AO3. And if I continue it I could update them both. But I think I want to try dreamwidth primarily because if people do want to submit something, it’d be easy to let them join it as a community and just post themselves.  I wouldn’t feel comfortable posting the submissions on my AO3 in that case, unless I had someone I could coauthor it with or something, since they’re not really mine. I can’t remember the last time I had a submission though so that may be a pipe dream.

I think even if tumblr changes course, which I doubt will happen, I won’t update here again. First, they’ve already shown what direction they want to take the site in. And second, I will say something probably unpopular. While I don’t agree with what they’re doing or at least the way they’re doing it, I will say that for a while I’ve been uneasy about how many minors are on tumblr just with the fact that I am into more “adult” canons like Spartacus. I hardly want to coddle them but I don’t want them stumbling across it since I think it’s just plain inappropriate. So I sort of get it. I think tumblr is trying to push a more family friendly angle, for whatever reason (I’m sure most of us have an opinion about that, given the timing of this). And if that’s the case then I will respect it. If most of the adults go, I don’t really want children to stumble across this and see something er crass? Which is why I’ll be deleting the NSFW posts myself.

I was going to make a funny Spartacus Reinterpreted to go with this post, but realized that it might be flagged as sensitive and this is one of those important “future of the blog” posts.

Short version: Spartacus Reinterpreted will not be continuing on tumblr but will be archived on Dreamwidth at least, perhaps elsewhere. I would like to continue it so please let me know if anyone wants to see more of these and would check in on it where it ends up. I don’t have a pillowfort or mastodon, which I know very little about, but I’m going to look into both options and maybe others. But I’m already on dreamwidth so as of right now that’s the plan.

I do have some more reinterpreteds to post and I will put them all up before the 17th. I’ll remove the few outright NSFW Spartacus Reinterpreteds on here before the 17th so if you want to save them, please do so (or just check the dreamwidth, which will have everything. I’ll post a link to it when I have it up).

Now the long version:

This little joke blog has been such an amazing experience for me. This may surprise you, but I’ve always been that person telling dumb jokes and just seeing what sticks. That was the case for this. I wasn’t expecting much out of it and it has been so rewarding to see how many people laugh at this blog. I’ve loved the submissions here. And I won’t lie, keeping this blog going, telling jokes, and seeing people get a kick out of them has helped me through some tough times. I’d hate to have it end now though with an older canon, being busy and ill and whatnot, this new tumblr ban might just be the last straw. I hope it’s not, but y’all can let me know if you super want to see it go on. If not, I totally get that. I’ve been slow for a while and it’ll be harder to keep up with it if everyone’s going to separate places.

I decided to stop updating this blog because of the adult nature of the canon. It’s not just that some of the NSFW posts will be removed, but that a lot of the non-NSFW ones will probably be automatically removed because this is Spartacus. They show a lot of skin and the algorithm will no doubt think it’s adult content. Also, I have seen this go down with other sites and even if it’s not removed, well I’ll just say I am not optimistic about the future. I actually do think tumblr will survive and do better than people think (time will tell) but it won’t be a place for Spartacus Reinterpreted.

Apologies for the delay.  Sadly, the Romans infected me with a virus I would swear was the Justinian Plague but is apparently known only as the “flu.” But I return bearing a gift for you, good anon.
