the Weather (wtnv)

relistening to welcome to nightvale, and so far i still haven't heard a song i only ever knew from a weather segment. It was I will follow him by little peggy march. I checked the wiki, but its not listed under any episode. Theres also certainly more weather than there has been because every episode so far has weather, when once that was not the case. This makes sense, of course. They can always add weather into past epsidoes. But do they change the weather? Was i will follow him removed at some point? If so, that is unfortunate. I rather liked the song. I was jsut wondering if, perhaps, im misremembering.

So im trying out a tablet weave pattern that i tweaked but it keeps coming out in reverse of what it should be. I checked my threading, my forwards vs backward, my card orientation. I am lost on whats going wrong. Buts heres pics of the original pattern (green brown), and then my tweaked pattern, and the bit of band i did a smy third try. Suggestions and troubleshooting much appreciated.

do i have my cards labeled wrong for abcd or something? At the moment ive got:

A B

D C all with the labels facing to to right. Which is the most common set up i see online for cards.

FIxed it, and have so much done now. The backside also lioks pretty heckin cool.

For anyone facing a similar issue in a pattern, i had to swap my threading from a/c hiles to the b/d holes. Alternatively, flipping my cards so that a was away from me and the labels facing left, would have solved this as well (but id still need to rethread the s/z then anyways).

What what no, I was just mentally compiling my “The Baron deliberately sabotaged Gil’s friendships and kept him isolated; in this essay I will”, and then THIS is just casually sitting in the first novel, confirming that Agatha was very much having friendships being sabotaged and being kept isolated??

EDIT TO ADD: The book also says she’s been going to TPU every day for ELEVEN YEARS. So she’s been under this isolation since AGE SEVEN??

Oh, i thought that she was "off limits" of teasing due to weird behavior. Like, oh she's kinda funky, but, uh, we'd also get in mega trouble if we say anything bad and dr beetle, ruling spark, heard about it. So better to just avoid.

Trilobite Buttons!?

As someone whose been debating how to sculpt some trilobite button designs and make a mold of them so i can cast them in resin for all my girl genius cosplay and regular outfit that i desire to be gg related needs, i have very definite existant demand for such thing. Probably of a vertical ½ to 1" sort of sizes. Good for nice showy buttons on a vest, or more normal sized butons on a shirt.

If news of such thing escapes the gg centric realm, i feel like some nerds of the archeology and natural science sorts would be very into this nonsense.

10th kingdom sequel book

Heyo, if anyone is a fan of the 10th kingdom series, then theres a sequel book already written and being published this year for the 25th anniversary of the series! Along with a petition ot show support for a tv sequel if youd like. Thought y’all might enjoy my very “in progress” Castle Heterodyne LEGO build 🤪

The Castle is roughly scaled to itself based on the full sized pages right before it releases all the monsters from the towers. Not minifig scale, it is way too small, but scaling up from here will be…”not brains tough, just hard work tough”. The clanks and monsters, including the Fun-MADD, are mostly from Ninjago sets, where LEGO really understands what makes a good mech suit. Speaking of:

Second pic is a closeup of Agatha in Old Vorthang’s Sunday Best, which started out as a Ninjago mech set before a lot of tweaking. I am unreasonably proud of the Torchmen, which I kit-bashed together part by golden part. Godzilla auditioned for the role of Franz and since there were no other dragons around, he got the job.

Third pic is Agatha (with Gil’s boomstick) and Zeetha at the top of the main tower. Jim Woodring’s vinyl “crazy newts” make pretty good monsters! This is another area where I put way too much effort into matching up the architecture; in fact, I solved this part first and the entire rest of the castle was scaled to match.

I have a giant bin of a discontinued “tall rock facade” pieces and have thought about trying to build the hill the castle sits on and the winding path up…but I would need a huge piece of desk or floor real estate and we just don’t have that!

Theres all the botw commentary on how, ecologically, geographically, the map is very small. But, considering time in the game is sped up x60 (1 minute per hour, but correct me if im wrong) then its more like the area has been compressed for sake of gameplay.

Sure the game has things in that measure distance (goron golf, bird man research), but again, sake of game play.

So really, all of hyrule and surrounding area should be more like 8,716,500 square kilometers instead of the 145,275 thats determined by the map's grid. For comparison, Canada (the closest i could find) is 9,093,507 square kilometers (according to wiki). (And the europe places i checked went to 000,000 digits, so smaller but still having seasons and geographies. There's probably better examples.)

This doesn't actually mean link's speed is compressed, though, cause both time and land are compressed, in game. I think. For fanfic writing purposes he's got normal speed but if theres a math explination someone has that i can't quite articulate, id love to see it. (It think its that game distance/irl time=expanded distance/in game time, so same velocity? Like, with the expanded map and time, would link, moving the same speed he does in game, still take the same time to go from point A to point B? I think so?)
