Twilight followed not far behind, doing his best to keep pace.
Long leaps and sprints weren't exactly his forte in this form... but he always made due. And if he suffered a little fall damage, then fine. He just needed to be there defending their best chance of ending the fight favorably.
Irratation.
The monks vanished only to reappear, like wasps poking at him with stingers of arrows or blades that slowed him.
Irritation.
Spider like machines with their cannon fire forced him to slow again and again. Burning, tearing through flesh that healed over again and again. Tiring, frustrating with how many times he'd needed to pause.
Irritation.
Buildings destroyed. Limbs torn, one of the machines dead. Yet, all of the targets that mattered were still standing.
Irritation.
That plant, that nuisance. That boy, that frustrating shanny.
His fingers twitched with irritation. Always out of range. Always out of range!!
Reaching into the depths of his tattered duster, Duke pulled out a double barrel shotgun. Then in one fluid motion; brought the butt end to his shoulder, cocked it open, loaded, shut, then fired...
Two consecutive bullets. Both at the plant already leaping off the roof.
The shot would be devastating, and was far too fast for Twilight to even think of intervening... but luckily for them, he wasn't fighting alone.
In an instant, two of Maz Koshia's clones appeared in the path of the bullets, only to burst apart upon contact.
Better to lose clones that could be easily restored than let their adversary get what they wanted. Even if the old monk didn't have the content Twilight did.
Repeater splat landed once again, though the comedic effect of it was lost in the wake of the gunfire. As he shot up in his pot, staring wide eyed at the giant reloading his gun. Before turning tail and scampering off in the opposite direction.
Weaving back and forth, practically dragging his own head behind him as his slithery roots carried him as fast as they could.
Frustration was all that shot through Duke's mind as he took aim as he stomped down the path and fired.
