Possibly Hot take: TME/TMA are fucking shitty labels.
Another possibly hot take: misogyny affects everyone, and in order to truly dismantle sexism we also need to dismantle systems of thinking that arent often directly seen as sexist.
TME is almost always used to refer to anyone who isnt a transfem person or a trans woman. TMA is almost always used to mean 'transfem'.
Has it ever confused people as to why there needed to be new terms to say "but whats in your pants"? Because it has confused me.
People often argue against this with "Well, trans women and trans fems have forms of discrimination that no one else does, right?" But they often ignore how that point shows how you can just say, transfems. Discrimination agaisnt transfems. Heck, just the specific form of it.
Trans misogyny refers to the intersection of misogyny and transphobia. Out of the false idea that transfems are the only ones experiencing this intersection, it became to mean discrimination that impacts or only impacts trans women. But, trans men do also experience an intersection between them, and its often ignored because of false correlation. Peoole beleive that since theyre men, they must have the same privileges as cis men. At least to me, using a term that includes Trans men and mascs as a transfem and trans women exclusive term feels odd. Its fairly easy to make a new term that specifically refers to their form of it.
Oposite yet Likewise, transandrophobia is similar. It refers to the discrimination of men (which in our current world does not directly impact cis people) intersecting with transphobia. It impacts both trans women and trans men, but gets used to mean the unique struggled trans men and trans mascs experience.
I'm surprised there isnt such thing as "TAE" and "TAA" atp.
Why cant we just make new terms that DO refer specifically to those struggles or call them the unique discrimination [xyz] faces or the unique form of trans[xyz] that [xyz] faces. or, full simplification, discrimination of [xyz] / discrimination [xyz] faces????
Dont even get me started on how theres so many intersex peoole and various gender identities that just don't fit this strict 'does transmisogyny affect you' binary.
And as for the second part:
I'm saying this because many "feminists" continue to perpetuate the idea that men are inherently evil and strong and women are inherently weak, innocent, and pure.
toxic masculinity and "boys dont cry" are a huge issue, and caused by / part of misogyny!
The idea that men must be strong stems from the idea that women must be weak.
