A less-than-wanted, but much needed update:Â
In 2024, Elle and I attempted six IUI cycles with our provider. The first five attempts led to negative results. Our sixth attempt was our first (albeit short-lived) positive, and we celebrated Christmas with high hopes. Unfortunately, we ended our 2024 with a miscarriage. Weâve taken time to grieve our loss, and we have discussed next steps with our provider.Â
Initially, our insurance company denied covering any part of our fertility treatments until we completed at least six out-of-pocket IUI cycles (with the hopes that one would be successful.) Unfortunately, that was obviously not the case.Â
Because these IUI cycles were unsuccessful, our provider recommended that we move forward with a different, more intensive approach, the next step being In Vitro Fertilization (or IVF).Â
Over the next few months, Elle will be enduring a horrifying amount of blood work, two weeks of new medication, two more weeks of daily injections, a surgical procedure under anesthesia for egg retrieval along with reimplantation, all while trying to handle the anxiety of it all.Â
With that said, we are now able to resubmit to insurance, but only some of this process will be covered by our insurance company. While we donât know how much insurance will cover and how much we will need to contribute, whatever it is will be in addition to the $20,000 this process has already cost. (Not including the sanity weâve probably lost throughout last year.)Â
We are eternally grateful for the assistance weâve been given from our fertility agency, our family, our friends, and even some friends of friends. The encouragement and support weâve received throughout the year has been invaluable to us in this journey. While the last year left us a little discouraged, we are hopeful that this next step will be the one to help us achieve our dream.Â

âYou were spooning, Stiles. I donât know about you, but the only person Iâve ever spooned in my life is my girlfriend,â Scott said with a gross smile in Allisonâs direction. The group collectively groaned but Stiles couldnât join in because he was too focused on what that weekend might have meant to Derek.
âWeâre just roommates, guys. Friends, even. But thatâs it,â Stiles said and that was that.
The pining! I love Stiles and Derek's friendship in this one, even if they are also super dumb. lol
So like I understand the whole Derek freaks out when he realizes that heâs in love with stiles thing. Cause, sure, valid after everything he been through.
But like I also feel that he would be so relieved. That itâs stiles. Stiles is someone who is safe to fall in love with. Not in the sense of âoh he loves me back so I wonât get my heart brokenâ (he does) but like in the sense of it wonât be used against him.
Stiles has saved his life over and over again, has kept his secrets and defend him. And Derek cannot help but feel relief of the fact that itâs stiles who has his heart . Because itâs entirely safe with him. Stiles would not abuse him like any of his past relationships. Itâs not something the Derek has to worry about. And that just makes it easier to fall deeper in love with him.
